I had a random idea for a potential Fediverse platform: what if someone took the idea and design of Upscrolled, but as a decentralized, federated alternative?

Pro-Palestine protesters, users. etc are flocking to US, given the crackdown towards them on other platforms and sites.

Having a federated alternative to Upscrolled could potentially bring in more users, as well as introduce more people to the Fediverse.

Not to mention that there has already been talk of companies (ie Apple, Google, etc) removing US from their App Stores.

EDIT: I made a post on the Upscrolled Subreddit, about whether or not Upscrolled should consider potential federation.

I think Loops is the fediverse alternative to short-form video platforms like TikTok, Xiaohongshu/RedNote, and UpScrolled.

I haven’t tried it. What aspects make it different from what Loops or Pixelfed are already doing?

What’s special about upscrolled other than being Pro Palestine? The screenshots just look like Instagram. So you could probably create a themed Pixelfed instance to get the same effect?

Upscrolled implementing federation would be interesting ofc. But unless I miss something, it doesn’t seem that it’s doing anything new?

If it is decentralized it means there will be instance of all type of ideology including zionists. I would rather promote the fediverse platform we already have and instances that are intolersnt to settler colonialism, occupation and genocide
