That has not been my experience. There are a number of times I’ve had fundamental differences with the zeitgeist and I’ve been largely down voted before, but never banned. I don’t think I’ve ever even had a comment removed, and some of them have been pretty borderline.

Maybe it’s due to other issues besides your opinion? Idk. Hope you find communities that fit you.

What we have now is “neat.” It’s freaking amazing it can do what it does. However it is not the AI from science fiction.

Lemmy and Bluesky are the only social media I use. I’m not a prolific poster, though, just a commenter. But I’m on them about every day.

Twitter and Bluesky are not my favorite type though. I’m less into following individual people and much more into talking about things. I’m not into celebrity culture, though there are a few people I enjoy the posts of — mostly news and politics-related. I wish I could vote for Kat Abugazelah. I would never have heard that name if not for Bluesky.

I find Praying by Kesha to be very uplifting and empowering.

Also blocked them. There is a fine line between preserving useful historical artifacts and using an extension to be an annoying attention whore.

Also religion. And perhaps even the Apollo program. Maybe gamma ray bursts. String theory. The speed of light. Love. Hallucinogens. Free will.

You know it’s a figure of speech, right? Sometimes you have to figure out when you can retreat from a position and when it’s too important to cede ground.

A hill I’m willing to die on is a position you can’t or won’t surrender regardless of what you must face to hold it.

As metaphors go, it’s one of the better ones.

There is also a dearth of cannibalistic viewpoints here. And Zoroastrians are woefully underrepresented.

I don’t come here to change my views (though it happens from time to time), and neither do they. I’m not ignorant of their thoughts; I’m inundated with them every day. I don’t need to interact with assholes here. I don’t want to come here and watch people scream back and forth at each other, and I definitely am not interested in participating—there is a reason I’ve left other social media.
