It doesn’t exist yet 😅 as I said, still learning and trying to avoid using AI as a lot of vibe coded discord clones popped up. I did compile a list (which probably needs updating)

You’re right. And that’s why more of us need to contribute and spread the word of projects to support them.
Honestly, FOSS is our last bastion against this consumerist hellscape. I’m working on learning to build my own discord-like front end on matrix specifically for gaming. But I’m just one guy. We’ve all gotta pick where we place our effort and support those around us similarly.
Vaultwarden taking over bitwarden, should they shut doen as open source, I think would be entirely worthy. But it might need more people to either help vaultwarden or maintain it on their own, you’re right.
To me, seeing and learning about all of these projects gives me hope. All of these people and communities working to build things out of passion and dedication, because they care and want to provide value to others. No profit motive necessary. We just need to be there to support them as we’ve tied capital to our survival currently.

You tell me. Many people don’t like dialectical thinking.

But this makes me think back to a video I saw not long ago about clean room engineering.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6godSEVvcmU
Now, while obviously dangerous for open source, could we not utilize AI in the same way to legally recreate proprietary software and code and release it as open source? As a means of fighting back?

Has Vaultwarden said anything yet? I imagine that, if necessary, given that bitwarden’s client is still open, at the point they choose to try and close it, we, the users, can fork it and establish it for vaultwarden, correct? Or, maybe even the vaultwarden team will think about forking it themselves and making a light client as well to pair with the current server.
But Vaultwarden can exist without “leeching” they just haven’t needed to yet. That’s more symbiotic than parasitic. The parasite class just took over Bitwarden after all.

I’m getting more involved in that I’m discovering more open source projects that I can support.
Open source really gives me hope. Instead of a profit motive, communities form and work together out of passion and dedication to a project or idea.
That’s really invigorating to me. And, in many ways, can often be a big fuck you to our capitalist overlords. I’m working on presentations and such to teach my friends and spread the word about various projects and better op sec to make it all the harder to harvest our data.

If there’s no point in voting, what’s the point in following the law at this point? That’s the only thing holding up this system of governance, the will of the people. Should the people feel the government has become tyrannical (aka consistently ignoring the direct democratic will of the people through their votes) then it is the duty of the people to alter or abolish it. The Declaration of Independence says as much.

Accountability from parents being the elephant standing next to the mass surveillance elephant in the room.

Welcome to the post-modern era of truth. Where objective reality doesn’t matter, only personal truth and reality. If what you’re saying doesn’t fit my personal truth, you’re using fake news or making it up. Even scientific research is fake news if it doesn’t fit my narrative. Just look at who funded the research.
Honestly, idk what we’re going to do. It feels like with all the age verification laws being pushed, the mass surveillance, and the quelling of dissenting opinions, the world admins are looking at 1984 as a guidebook. Are we going to get a Ministry of Truth established soon to “verify” what is accurate and what is not?

The english language literally steals words from other languages and adopts them.
Macabre Ennui Taco Plaza Café Ballet Cuisine Restaurant Elite Genre Police Patio Rodeo Canyon Guitar Tomato Mosquito Hamburger Wanderlust Angst Pizza Pasta Piano Opera Balcony Volcano Algebra
I can keep going but I think you get the point. Some english songs do throw in other languages at times too.
Many Asian songs, especially Japanese and Korean will often include english because they are all taught english in school and english is used in the business world. When visiting Korea and Japan, in major cities, a large amount of signage will include english to aid tourists.

I wish we all had more time to be human.

Gaming, though im trying to get back into it. I used to be an ultimate raider in ffxiv. Some of my friends are starting back up so i might join them. Time has been harder to find as ive been slipping into work all the time more and more as more gets thrown at my plate.

I don’t disagree. I don’t care for the Iranian government and never proclaimed as such. Though, I think that’s also part of it as well as that we look at the Iranian government and conflate it with the people themselves. Under that understanding, even as we fight against our fascist regime in America, we, individually, are also responsible for the decisions our leaders make.
Which, at some level, is true. We could have used our 2nd amendment a while ago, for example, but we’re still here, just working and paying our taxes to bomb the world.
Also, I think that’s also exactly the point. We all have to be manually approved as a measure against bots. A federated, decentralized platform allows freedom of dissenting ideas to be discussed. Hence why I even asked the question as I was looking for some genuine thoughts around all that complexity (AI usage, good or bad, Iran, good or bad, working class message of peace from both, good or bad?) Though, seems like people are more focused on the Iranian government more so than the message being spoken or the method by which it was created. Broken clock and all that 😅. Both things can be true at the same time. But given the downvotes maybe I didn’t communicate that well.
If we can disagree with our government and want better, why can’t others? No matter where you are in the world, we are human beings. We should not let those in power define us.

I’d keep an eye out. They also “backed off” including AI in Notepad and “other places it didn’t make sense.”
Turns out that just meant removing the Copilot branding and calling the AI features “Writing Tools.”

Or are they just going to rename it “advanced features” like they did with notepad and others?

I fewl like it’s a national security risk to not have energy independence from fossil fuels as a consumable. My gas price says so. And the coming food and plastics shortages that are on the way as well.
If it gets us to kick fossil fuels, that’d be great imo. Remove the oil subsidies! Ya’ll wanted to cut government spending, right?

That’s one of the scary things about all this “age verification” bs. Not only is it just mass surveillance, but in “protecting minors” from “adult content” those of us who identify as LGBTQ are labelled as adult content just for existing by these fundamentalists. Entire swaths of people will be banned just for existing, especially once Palantir gets as much data as possible and flags IDs and faces as LGBTQ dissidents.

Not that they would ever get punished, but if they did, it should be based on a percentage of their net worth. None of this “oh, 200 billion annually? Please pay your $100 fine”
Whoever says that should provide you with their government identification, credit card numbers, and full personal medical history. Oh, and especially their browser history. Mobile and pc.
They have nothing to hide, right?
