    I use onlyoffice.
No idea if OnlyOffice uses .docs as a default for popularity or because of a shady deal.
But Onlyoffice allows export to open formats like .odt

I would like to use Libreoffice, but the UI is sluggish and horrible, at least for me.

Not that much different in case of the word processor.

(I also never noticed sluggishness in any such programs, outside of very niche cases that depend on other factors than the core features.)

      Edit: more comparison

Linuxmint 21.3 on a budget nvidia gpu, the mx series, and intel i7 10th gen

If onlyoffice runs well on this gpu, libreoffice should also be as fast. no?

i mean im currently on an intel internal but my other one has an mx series and both intel for processor. I don’t run onlyoffice but I have never noticed any performance lag or anything when doing libreoffice that would make me even think its not performing well. Like it performs as well as my browsers and such. The only time I have noticed performance issues with anything is if I run to much concurrently and run my ram up to its limit.
