I mean why wouldnt they? The world has been willingly and knowingly installing their backdoored hardware for many years. Would be kinda silly not to make use of it when the time comes.

Great way to blow a strategic high-value multi-year project over… checks notes a completely unnecessary military conflict.

There will be many governments and business that move off US hardware now, all that setup and cost for what - so Trump feels machismo for 5 minutes?

Why would people move away from it? Its been public knowledge since Snowden and nothing has changed. Companies wont be replacing billions of dollars in hardware because of this. The US also said they would annex Greenland and basically nothing happened.

To be fair, they’ve generally had a decent relationship with the US for the last half century. But now they see the US is actually willing to let someone as stupid and malevolent as Trump become president, twice, and how quickly he can turn everything he touches into shit.

Trump is ironically pushing the world away from American big tech dominance and fossil fuel reliance.

Yeah the overall trend will be away from the US hopefully, but its not something that can happen in a time frame that would matter for any near future conflicts.

Considering who we’re talking about, it certainly looks that way.

While I’m sure some businesses will reconsider their hardware choices, I suspect a lot are locked in by contract, technical obstacles, or business inertia, and will only change if the negative consequences hit them directly.
