“no one ever has to work thanks to AI” sounds like a lovely hypothetical, but even if one takes this thought experiment seriously, the obvious answer to “who gets to eat” is the same as it’s always been: the owner class. for everyone else: NMFP, i got mine, fuck you, same as it’s always been
the idea that oligarchs will give up one molecule of their ownership of everything is even more absurd than the idea that AI will ever replace all human labor
bloatligarchs will still ensure a world in which their wealth/ownership is perpetually increasing. right now that’s going on through robbing the taxpayer. they buy holdings in defense/military conglomerates, the government calls it a matter of “national security,” throws billions of (our) dollars at said industries, invades countries, and prices for those stocks skyrocket
yes, your kids may die, but that’s a sacrifice they fucking nut over making
i honestly can’t say what would happen in a world where any work being done is done by AI/robots–i can only guarantee you that the people at the top will do whatever it takes to stay that way, and not let anyone else in the club
We got from feudalism to capitalism. It’s not inconceivable that socialism will be widespread in 100-200 years. And I predict that as a minimum time to fulfill the premise of the title.

would a society like that likely seek population reduction so the kings with their automated servants have more individual space?
once they have no more use for you, what happenes if you are in the way?

i think it’s much more likely we’ll be back in the stone age long before 100-200 years from now. IF we haven’t extincted ourselves by then
