Optimized? My friend you mean hijacked to make even more money for billionaires at the expense of the rest of us, just like every thing else.

Now everyone is lip-syncing all the time on TikTok, except there is no joy, no spontaneity, only endlessly choreographed offerings to the almighty algorithm.

Why are you on TikTok then? I agree with the author. Yes, the algorithms in social media and platforms like YouTube and Spotify are predatory, invasive, and manipulative. The internet used to be more compartmental. But the honest truth is that you don’t have to be there.

Mourn your stupid memes from 2010 in the woods as you walk through and actually gain something from an experience. Join a sports league, club, or social group.

Fuck algorithms, fuck screens, fuck data collection. Go the fuck outside and stop whining about how the internet was 15 years ago.

The internet from 15 years ago is also still there. There are still self hosted sites, fun little places. You just have to know where to look.

Kids growing up today will never know

It’s funny that the author chose to use Tony Soprano in their article, because one of my favorite quotes from that show was when Tony said, “Remember when is the lowest form of conversation.”

Kids growing up today have a different childhood and will have their own “Remember when” on the internet.

Its like people saying “my kid is gonna play n64!” And be completely anachronistic with their generation? Not that fun tbh. Everything changes, but the shape remains.

They won’t. They’ll play roblox and whatever other games the other kids are playing and thats fine. My N64 sits in the toy room, connected to the TV, wishing my brother and I were children again.

I do, but I meet them on their games, I only put them on to something of mine if they ask. So far the only game from my collection that they like is Spyro the Dragon and sometimes Rain World.

oh yeh baby. Should make it easier to step away…put the old school tunes and have fun the old ways. Causing trouble on the streets!

I didn’t think i would be so excited to get older…it frees me up to be a trouble causing teen again…only this time with confidence and organisation skills. The dickeheads in charge clearly forgot the harder they push the less we have to lose.
