It’s ironic that the 13th amendment to the US Constitution still allows forced labour for those convicted of crimes:
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
But let’s call it what it is: Trump and his administration want to impose tariffs, and he is using whatever pathway available to him to impose them, even if hypocritical, morally discredible, or of question legality…
