      The older one is most likely the one with lower resolution textures and lower poly count models, and generally softer and darker shadows.

      I don’t think the new one looks any better however as the darker and softer shadows in the old one created a lot more variation that hid some of the repetitiveness of the textures.

      It seems in the new one they increased the resolution of the textures but they didn’t adjust the UV mapping at all: so the textures needlessly repeat just as much but it’s a lot more noticeable. Probably due to the brighter shadows. I guess the lighting probably has more bounces in the global illumination too, which makes all scenes a bit too bright, like they just cranked up the settings and assumed it would look better without actually adjusting the brightness of the lights or HDR camera exposure settings to take the extra indirect light into account…
