No I am happy with my lightweight alternatives. Try to follow the principle “do one thing well” as much as I can. So having smaller different apps is why I will never use DMS or noctalia
I totally get your point but it really depends on what scope you define. For me, coming from Gnome and not feeling like constructing the whole shell aspect of my desktop myself, these tools do that job very well.
You should check out Dank Material Shell. Pairs like a fine wine with Niri.
