I did a studio session with them about 20 years ago, when they were still pretty popular and before they were widely considered to be a joke, but I was not a fan. When the studio I was working for called me to do the session, my wife said, “Watch - they will end up being really nice guys and you will end up liking them more because of it.” In reality, they were arrogant dickheads, and I hated them all the more ever since.

People at the height of their own popularity tend to be dicks. My mom organized some event with Neil degrasse Tyson during his hay day and said he was pretty insufferable.

He uhh always has been and still is as far as I’m aware. He talks down to everyone, even the camera. And him tearing apart movies was the most obnoxious thing. We know Neil, we know.

When I heard him talk about his relationship with Carl Sagan and how he was one of the very few people that were willing to invest time and energy in him as a black man in STEM at the time he made a little more sense to me. I feel like having to fight for it has probably made him a lil crispy around the edges.

He’s somehow one of the most pseudointellectual people alive despite legitimately being an intellectual.
