I disagree. I would love to turn my ps5 into a steam machine. There are barely any ps5 exclusives anyways (that might change). However, this hack only works with launch ps5s without updates. So basically unicorns.
I hope they figure out a way to do it with the Xboxes, now that I can play Halo MCC on my SteamDeck my series S is collecting dust. Would love to make it a steam machine
Somehow I hadn’t heard about this until now. It’s a disappointing decision, but it also makes sense. It’s hard to sell a console when you don’t have exclusive games for it.
Bringus Studios will be pissed when he finds out about it
Context: his channel focuses on running various Linux distributions on obscure hardware, like a receipt printer. He bought a PS5 with launch firmware, specifically to jailbreak it and run SteamOS/Bazzite/etc. in the future, and stored it in a rented storage unit which got robbed, and that PS5 got stolen alongside of it.
We need the opposite though. PC emulation of exclusive PS5 games.

If the hacking community has taught me anything, it’s that hackers will always find a way…but sometimes it takes some time.
Lets revisit this in a year.

Well Sony recently announced they’re not going to do PC ports anymore for some reason, so there will be more PS exclusives coming down the line.
