I remember my friend getting a 500gb storage in 2005 and thinking, how the hell will she use all that space. The divx movies I downloaded were always 700mb AVI, no matter how long.
2003 was when I ad a 128mb ram to my 256mb pc. I recorded a lot of music and produce quite a few experimental movies on that pc.
me (1999): I just want 1GB of ram and 1TB of hard drive, I can’t see a world where more than that would be necessary.
We were ripping DVD’s to 200mb divx at the time and an OTA cartoon might only be 25mb because SD+compression.

Yeah, some anime are now
4001 GB per episode. That’s what bad encoding settings do to you.Edit: mind fart. Some Fate series are 1.2 GB per episode. 400 MB is high-ish, ~300 MB in mpeg, ~120 MB in avif webm.
Also a lot higher resolution and bitrate… And not to speak of all the advanced in compression since divx!
Back in time man. 2GB drives were monsters, screens were all 1024x768
Divx. It really whipped the llamas ass.
