Haven’t watched the video, but it seems to have been published in article form as well. https://pivot-to-ai.com/2026/02/16/the-obnoxious-github-openclaw-ai-bot-is-a-crypto-bro/

TL;DR there’s some pretty reasonable evidence that the bot is owned by a crypto bro, but absolutely none that the PR and hit piece were published by that person, rather than autonomously generated by a bot. Doesn’t stop the author from asserting definitively that this is a human masquerading as a bot, and that we’re all idiots for assuming that bots could even do any of this at all.

As well as gullible journalists, a lot of ordinary posters — who really should know better — talked about how foreboding it was that a chatbot could do this — of its own accord! Frightening! Ominous!

You and I know this was really obviously not some sort of rogue bot — it was a rogue human. They might even be running some sort of scam.

Meanwhile, the latest post from the guy the hit piece was about actually HAS some evidence to support the bot being autonomous, or semi-autonomous, during this event. Certainly not definitive, but better than the vibes-based evidence this guy is going with.

Also, we don’t seem to be any closer to actually identifying the potential crypto bro.
