i havent had the chance to try stoat yet because most of my friends refuse to leave discord, but i heard of Stoat (used to he called Revolt, but i think there was a trademark conflict) a while back and have wanted to try it out.

i regularly attempt to shop at the manufacturer’s website. i will do a search for a product type, get blasted with only positive reviews for shitty products, find a product whose brand isnt similar to UFVEGDKFNDBDHDJ, and find their website to purchase.

running a jellyfin server on something like this may not be pleasant, so it depends on what you are trying to do with this machine.
for most things, yeah - it will be fine; however, if you are planning to do live transcoding, running an llm, or other compute-heavy tasks, the box will need to be upgraded.

i mainly bike and am in america (its shitty). i search on GM for a company, grab the address, plug it in to OSMand, and use the bike routing - its extremely good.
there are options in OSMand where you can “prefer biways” - use it… its great. every time there is a bad, unsafe, or non-existant crossing, you can tap-hold -> avoid road and it will only avoid that tiny block you selected. sooooooooo good.
im biking ~7mi one-way this evening (do it once weekly; its a bit longer than my usual rides of <3mi), but all of the roads i hate are already avoided, and i only have to take a little bit of unpaved rocky shit “sidewalk” path to get there (a super busy freeway overpass; im not riding in the street)

no hate! you actually found a use for them! :o
do not do what i would do.
rug.

not the person you replied to, but i have been using cloudflare zero trust for my streaming needs; have not gotten a complaint yet.
just make sure you have the upload bandwidth.

i selfhost gitlab for my own use. its similar to github, but is a bit of a resource hog and the project tracking is a bit wonky to use. i have heard gitea is really low resource usage, but has fewer features.

i hate that most of it is half-assed unless you spend twice as much to make it look good.
the current black paint + edgelord logo + generic phrase about gaming + half-brighness rainbow LEDs on 40% of your components in every computer just gets old. if one actually spends a decent amount of money i think it can look good, tho.

i recommend checking out f-droid if you are against tracking. google play is tracking. <3
i see local bands once or twice a year; however my wife goes more often, about every other month. i dont go to big shows. i always buy at least one thing.
i have a decent job, so i need to share the love even if i dont want anything.

my father was this way - i didnt get to know the real him until i was in my mid-late 20’s. though i think its great that he can be himself again, there is a bit of resentment that i didnt mean enough to him to stop working for once and interact with me on a human level while growing up.
we arent super close, but we are friendly to each other. having slightly less money by working less and spending more time with the kid would mean you have to find some free things to do… #worth
there has been a meme making the rounds about “if you work really hard this could be you” with a picture of a gravestone saying you worked hard. dont be that guy <3

Halo 5 whole house filter. it then goes through the filter in my fridge because its colder than the tap (lasts forever now, tho)

i became friends with someone who worked there. even after they quit, i still have the same plan.
unlimited everything, 3 lines, free netflix, free HBO max, $90
employees get like 5 of those plans to give out to friends and family. its worth

as a milennial who was very much alive and in school in 1995 (~5th grade for me), you may need to reimagine what a boomer is. my parents are boomers, lol.

my parents are too religious for me to have children. i will not bring a child into this world while religion is forced on anyone. i will not be having children (married; 40 years old)

i only need 1: Raining Tacos by Perry Gripp.

level 2 chargers at home are such a nice thing to have. its so nice for a quick stop at home to get a few things before leaving again and getting some extra range : D
i started in january of this year because i upgraded my wife’s computer. that gave me an old computer to tinker with.
i recommend getting an old computer, installing an OS (look up thinks like truenas, proxmox, unraid… there are more and they are different; try them all out if you want to see what you like)
then go onto youtube and search for things like “<OS> beginner” and you will get a bunch of tips/tricks/tutorials/etc. for starting out with your favorite.
