You can go a LOT cheaper by using used „hoverboard“ motors and electronics.
You can buy any metric on the web. Amazon reviews, YouTube subscribers and likes, X followers, Reddit karma, …. I am not surprised that GitHub stars are one of them.
Really does depend on what we are talking about. Some random software that is not critical? Sure. Some system breaking library that would take down my servers in case of malfunction? No bueno.

Anything that is in the sun. A white car will not heat up as quick as a black one when you drive in the summer, same for a light colored roof on a house, or a train or a bus.

The 90 series is always overpriced and inefficient. Tell me about the 80 series.
For some people it simply does not help with the workflow. For me it is a significant upgrade as it allows me to never use the normal mouse to move around in 3D, and allows me to quickly move the view to where I want it to be. Without it, moving in 3D just feels clunky to me.
But as I said, it is a preference.
The DJI Mini Series comes to mind. They are great little drones.
The mixers are not exactly cheap though… and their other stuff is now mostly made from plastic (like the food processors for example)
