  • I had tried Plasma 5 in the past and I just don’t think I put enough time into figuring out how to customize it. It wasn’t as intuitive to set up the desktop layout as Cinnamon was. Wanted to test it out when KDE6 came out and loved it. Switched from Endeavour back to Mint due to some instability on Arch (a couple kernel updates broke bluetooth which my mouse and keyboard are both bluetooth) but wanted to get back with KDE so testing out Tuxedo. It’s really nice thus far.

  • Because they’ve set up a false quandry. They’re setting it up as a three option problem with no other options.

    a. Use a Windows desktop to game because they prefer mouse and keyboard unless Steam comes out with a desktop. b. Use a Steam Deck with mouse and keyboard but it has alleged poor support for that and isn’t viable (I’m saying alleged because I’ve never used a Steam Deck though my son has one). c. Use SteamOS and hope it has better keyboard and mouse support than the OS on the Steam Deck.

Those aren’t your only options. You could also.

    d. Use pretty much any other Linux based distribution on a desktop and install the Steam app on it. Why would you need a Steam based OS? Clearly they don’t have a problem running Steam as an app in Windows, why not do the same on Linux?

  • Yeah. I work in commercial lending and do a lot of financial analysis so I need a numpad. This board was a treat to myself for getting a new job that allows 3 days remote work where my last job had to be in the office 100% since I was managing the lending department. But this is a perfect compromise on space since really narrows down the navigation key area from a 3 wide section with arrows/home/pg up/pg down/del/insert/etc and bumps the arrows into the main section and then just gives a couple keys for navigation. I have them set to Pg Up/Pg Down/Delete for the three keys between the numpad and letters. The purple key at the top of that section is Home. FN+Purple key is end. And the bottom one (the blueberrys) is delete and FN+delete is Print Screen.

I was between the Q5 Pro and the Zoom98 which has a very similar layout but I didn’t want to wait for the group buy on the Zoom98. Super happy with my purchase though on the Q5 Pro.

  • Thanks! I had on some cheapo GMK knockoffs from AliExpress while trying to find a keycap that I wanted. Keycaps are a pain to find since so many of them are group buys or super expensive especially if you need a number pad and want accent colors. GMK’s base sets are like $125 but their base doesn’t include a numpad so you need to add that for another $40 and then accent keys are another $30. I will say that the AliExpress are decent but they weren’t uniform keys and they definitely don’t feel as good or quality as the NovelKeys.

  • I’m with you especially since what I use Reddit/Twitter for the most is sports highlight clips/discussion during games. Those communities just aren’t here. I love chatting with other Orioles/Panthers/Penguins fans in the game threads on Reddit during the game since none of my friends are fans of those teams other than my brother being a Penguins fan too.

Luckily a lot of the Twitter follows I had which were mainly for College Football are on Bluesky so I can use that more but missing out on the rest here. Once Boost for Reddit stops working (still works if you mod a sub) I won’t be using Reddit anymore though. The official app is that bad.
