a lot did when the third-party kill happend. i mean, look at the current state of reddit. almost only bots and karma whores posting, but the real core community who really contributed content (bot just reposting stuff but creating it) is being less and less active.

you can still use most third-party apps. All you have to do is be a moderator in a subreddit. for some stupid reason reddit then allows you to still use them because they probably need all help they can get from mods.

most apps have auto update functions who require you to update. so normally they are all deactivated. but i have blocked the requests Joey does to it’s server for checking the version check and use an older version of the app so i can still use a older version. newer versions don’t let you do that anymore. so i guess Apollo is killed off completely.

you can just create a subreddit with your own name. boom, you’re a mod.

i would scroll a lot longer on lemmy if there would be more content and my app Liftoff wouldn’t completely reset where i left off when i click a link or leave the app for a second. each time i have to search again where i was etc… sucks after 2 time too much to try again. also the sorting in the app don’t rly works… i click sort by new in my profile and it does nothing.

YMusic is specific designed to work with music so the player, loading times etc are better. in NewPipe you first need to open a video, click play (or tab and hold to play), select play in background etc… and also create your own playlists. in YMusic you click just on a song you like and boom, it plays. also it can download quickly the music and also recommend automatic new music etc.

YMusic is just way better for music. you can even login with your yt account and use your music playlists etc. from computer.

YMusic ftw. if you want to listen to music in background, it’s the better alternative compared with newpipe. newpipe is the best for videos…but YMusic for music.
