Wow, thank you for the comprehensive reply! I think you can do the Low Power Mode automation with Shortcuts, but none of the rest.

The holding vol up/down is cool, as are the no ads apps.

You’ve given me something to ponder, maybe on an old phone. Cheers!

  • Yes, posts can remain on some rogue servers forever.

Up until recently, deleted posts were stored in all server’s databases forever, just with a deleted flag next to them. It was recently changed to purge after 30 days. Even so, someone could setup a server that ignores all deletes and will still retain them forever.

For privacy, editing your post first may be useful as that seems to propagate faster. This could still suffer from the same rogue server issue not respecting edits.

This is a problem that doesn’t seem to have an answer yet.

  • In the upcoming iOS 17, there is a feature to tap two phones together to share whichever contact information you choose to. It’s all a manual process though, as I think it should be.

I could see a world where augmented reality glasses could show people’s names floating above their heads, if they opted in. It would be useful for private work meetings and small classes, not so much for walking around in public. Would need fine grained controls over sharing what, to who, when and where.
