Open Source@lemmy.ml•HDMI Forum is unwilling to disclose the 2.1 specification for open-source (Linux): according to AMD, they had submitted a functional, HDMI 2.1-compatible driver [for linux?], which the Forum rejected.
126·1 month agoThat’s why HDMI needs to die and display port needs to take over. The TV industry is too big for that to happen of course. They make a shit ton of money off of HDMI

41·2 months agoNeeds root. Many manufacturers have locked their bootloaders. Even pixel when you buy it through the carrier. I don’t buy shit carriers anymore, but when they give out a completely free phone, I’m taking that shit. lol

2·2 months agoI’m going to be the asshole here. And? If I’m not getting paid, then why should I care? It’s a hobby project that I made for fun in my free time. Unless this is my living then, I’d understand what you’re saying.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•FFmpeg to Google: Fund Us or Stop Sending Bugs
80·2 months agoIf I had an open source program that is being used by fuckers like Google, who can afford to pay but don’t, and then come in and demand shit. I’d just ignore them and pretend they don’t exist and continue with my life. Let them bark until they’re blue in the face. But first I’d put this as the first line in the README.md “if you’re a big corporation and need help, come with money. Otherwise, please don’t bother me”.

4·3 months agoYup. You press the same number as many times as you need. If the whole word is under 5 then the number is all 5s. lol. I’m not originally from the US myself and just learned this a couple of years ago. Never seen it anywhere else but the US.

34·3 months agoYou just press the number that has the letter, regardless of if the letter was in the beginning or the end, you just press the number wherever that letter is.

I use the GE-Proton-Latest and I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. It feels like it’s making everything else obsolete (unless of course you need an older version)

Technofeudalism. Great book by Yanis Varoufakis. He called it and it’s actually happening.
