They can just say that Linux is not supported though with proton because the community will just make it run better if they don’t block do anything to block Linux.

Unreal engine is source available, and you don’t see anyone calling it open source.
I’m pretty sure wacom drivers are just in the linux kernel, and also my XP pen tablet worked out of the box also. I haven’t noticed any weird problems.
Yeah that is real impressive, I thought we would be years away from the realistic meta avatars becoming usable on actual hardware. I don’t really understand what’s so metaversey about this though, Apple showed off the same concept with no ties to the idea of metaverses.
EDIT: I watched a bit more and hearing Mark’s ideas of the metaverse he wants honestly sounds very similar to the plans and sdk’s for the Apple Vision Pro. I don’t know if this is truly what the future will be, but it seems exciting.
I’m pretty sure they Epic bought Bandcamp for their battle with Apple and then did literally nothing with it.
The new demo for what? I have no idea what you are talking about. I’d like to think I know a bit about metaverses as a VR enthusiast.
I got the cartoon with text wrong because I didn’t know dalle-3 could do text. I got 12 from vibes of more detail? This assumption that AI does more detail gets a lot of actual humans. AI image generation is really crazy. The simpler stuff is pretty much indistinguishable from real human stuff at this point.
The only odd thing I noticed is the test tubes that look like they should be out of focus like the rest of the background. That is extremely convincing and idk if I would notice if I saw it out of context.
Well you don’t just use the flashcards, You have to use textbooks and practice on supplementary material. Those aren’t really software that can be open source.
Also Duolingo removed its grammar lessons a while ago, so its really not that different from flashcards now. EDIT: nevermind they only removed grammar on desktop.
Duolingo is pretty bad at teaching you a language so I don’t think we really need to make an open source alternative. If you want to actually learn a language, just use anki (anki is open source) for flashcards and get a textbook. I say anki because it uses a spaced repetition system which is the only way to effectively study more than 100 flashcards and there are browser plugins that allow you to create new flashcards from a couple clicks on a new word. Once you get far enough you won’t have to use the textbook and will be able to just sentence mine for words and have to google the occasional grammar point.
If you have an Alt-graph key you can type more glyphs by hitting it while typing a key. Ctrl+Alt also acts as an alt graph key. Shift also changes the glyphs. On windows you need to switch to the English International keyboard for the alt-graph key to do anything if you are on the English US layout.
Ø
you can get this glyph by typing Alt-graph+L
Oh ok, I didn’t realize that. I didn’t know as much about activitypub / lemmy as I thought. Sorry.
No it doesn’t, I remember reading the beehaw defederation with lemmy.world or something posts where they said that the beehaw communities for the guys they defederated were now useless because they wouldn’t recieve anything on them from beehaw.
Ok I found this post like a week late, but TikTok bought a VR company called Pico several years ago and they were investing money into new software and headsets, but recently cancelled all of their planned games. They are still making a new headset, but they also seemed to cancel their entry into the US market. They also had a ton of layoffs last year.
So basically, I think they’ve lost interest in VR.
