Do you use it on the stock ROM or on GrapheneOS/ another system?
GrapheneOS for example applies some “app optimisations” after system updates, and because of that, Kvaesitso gets some performance issues, namely extreme stuttering.
When reinstall the app or delete some data, it works again. Did you try that?

It is in fact part of the launcher. You can change it in the settings of the homescreen and decide between a digital or a round version.

Sadly, I’m nowhere qualified/ capable enough to host a reasonable website, let alone one that collects content like I imagine it to be.
Exactly that is my point. By applying stricter rules to posting, including tagging, we could create exact that database.
I use Unixporn similar to how other people use Pinterest for decorating their home, not only to see cool setups. I personally think that my use case is also valid and not that rare.
If people already make the effort to post, why not make that more searchable and give others like myself the ability to filter?

You can use any distro you want for gaming. Maybe try to choose a more popular one, niche distros like Nobara often aren’t as secure as major ones.

There aren’t enough light theme setups out there, and yours looks very clean and well thought out. I especially like that the shadows of the window decorations are better visible on the light theme, that gives it a way better spacial look than on dark ones.
The only thing I would change personally, if I would copy it, is the right area of the top bar, that one looks a bit too crowded for me compared to the rest of the more minimalist setup.
I would drag the widgets, except the tray, onto the desktop or so.

You can still try it. On a not-as-powerful PC it will take a bit longer of course, the only thing I would recommend having is a GPU.
On a CPU it will take literally ages to create one picture, speaking from experience.
Just give it a try. Even if your laptop is a bit underpowered, half an hour for a set isn’t a huge problem. Just go cooking or showering in the meantime and let it process in the meanwhile 😁

I recommend you to not buy a Chromebook for that specifically. ChromeOS sucks, both in privacy and function.
I used a MS Surface some time ago with Gnome. If you want a cheap tablet, then maybe buy an used one and slap the silverblue-main-surface-image from universal-blue.org onto it.
It has the linux-surface drivers already baked in and works ootb.
On any other distro (e.g. Fedora Workstation) you would have to fiddle with it and it may break due to the custom kernel.
Besides it being a shitty device (the model I had) and MS not being Linux-friendly, it was alright.
Sadly, the newer the devices get, the worse the Linux support also gets. But if you’re only after a media consumption device, they’re a good choice if you choose an used older model, e.g. from 2017-2020.
Preferably, check out the 2-in-1s from the Lenovo ThinkPad series, they’re also pretty good and have excellent Linux support from what I’ve heard.
They should work under Linux ootb, since Lenovo isn’t blocking its’ usage.
Gnome is ideally suited for touchscreen use, it was a huge joy to use. You don’t even need a keyboard!
It looks and functions as an ideal tablet-like UI, and even the on-screen-gestures work the same as on a trackpad.
If you want Android support, check out Waydroid. Then it really gets you the best out of both worlds, desktop and mobile.
I would advise against Nobara. Why?
What else would I recommend? Bazzite (if you use your PC only for gaming) or the various other images from universal-blue.org

I will look into getting an e-reader though. Plan was always to spend less time on my phone. Photography doesn’t interest me. I’ve tried to get into it because hot girls are into it but I can’t even fake it.
Then don’t chase something you don’t enjoy! If you want to meet new people, be enthusiastic and have fun in what you’re doing right now, whatever it is. When I’ve learnt something in the last few years, then it is to have fun and enjoy yourself. Others will notice and will be interested into you.
You’re into books? Get a library card and ask the handsome lady next to you out. You enjoy collecting postcards? Weird, but interesting! Will be a great conversation starter. You get my point?
I honestly wouldn’t buy a “cheap” phone in your place to be honest. They don’t last as long. Maybe take a look into Fairphone, or Google Pixel devices. Both can run many CustomROMs (if you’re into that), extending the life span and making it more private. I’m a fan of the Fairphone, since you can repair it yourself and it has (I believe) 10 years of software support ootb
Proton is just the compatibility layer, which allows you to play Windows games on Linux.
It’s one of the main reasons so many people switched to Linux in the last months and years, since Proton gets even better from week to week. Something, games designed for Windows run even better on Linux (Proton) than on Windows!
From what I’ve heard, requiring Proton isn’t that bad, especially for the devs. Often, games engineered for Windows run better on Linux than the same ones for Linux.
