Cool, I’ll check this out. Always a bit of a ball ache when I need to access the server while lying in and too lazy to get up. Using vim on a phone is always an adventure in patience.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Rockstar Games fires over 30 employees, all were part of pro-union Discord group, "one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the games industry"English
22·22 days agoI know Discord has it’s flaws, but why would that discredit them from organising a union? Would you referred if they had used Teams or an email chain?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What are you all using for a 2FA token manager?English
4·1 month agoOh, that’s actually good to know. I guess it makes sense for when you don’t have a good connection as well.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What are you all using for a 2FA token manager?English
81·1 month agoSame. Self hosting it sounds nice, and I self host a handful of services, but I don’t want to be stuck without passwords in another country with a dead server at home because a power cut happened at some point.

91·2 months agoCompared to something multi threaded, yes. But there are obviously a number of bottlenecks that might diminish the gains of a multi threaded program.

1·2 months agoOh I’ve actually heard of Pluto.tv and watched it somewhere.

21·2 months agoI’m not trying to make a point, I’m just curious how many this impacts and so on. I imagine it will go down similar to Netflix account sharing crackdown; generally viewed unfavourably, but will convert enough users to pay for it to be worth it.

52·2 months agoHow is Plex used if you aren’t using it to stream your self hosted media? I remember seeing channels and such before. Is all the official stuff licensed content? I can’t imagine their offering is very competitive.

21·3 months agoI thought people might have. I’m a little surprised that wasn’t one of the first technologies to go in.

I might want to have a sit down and talk with your autocorrect about that first sentence!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you ever had sex completely ruined by something going on outside the room or the building? What was it?
4·9 months agoHuh. I’ve never seen much slight of hand magic in person, and until now I wouldn’t have thought that would be my reaction. But I can totally see a 1-on-1 close up performance like that feeling very invasive.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do males complain about female-led stories or too many female characters when the majority are still dominated by males?
172·9 months agoI mean, there is definitely a crowd that don’t like women as lead characters. While not directly related to movies, just see how a bit of peach fuzz on Aloy upset people when they showed off the new Horizon game. And that’s not a poorly written game or character.
Something like Captain Marvel does suit your argument; a poorly written character and movie, so people who criticise it get lumped in with the “women are bad” crowd. But there definitely are people who just hate things that put women in the spotlight.
Edit: fix shockingly poor grammar and spelling.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the weirdest PDF you have in your downloads?
4·10 months agoThat’s the one I was gonna post! I think the text file containing ASCII 0s and 1s for an image of the Mona Lisa comes second.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Organic Maps Turns 4 Years: The Privacy-Focused Alternative to Google Maps
13·11 months agoThere is unfortunately only one way for smaller businesses (or any for that matter) to show up, and that is people contributing to osm itself.
Edit: a word.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Organic Maps Turns 4 Years: The Privacy-Focused Alternative to Google Maps
20·11 months agoOrganic maps is probably my favourite osm app for general use. I still have OsmAnd for various purposes, and I use Magic Earth when driving for the included traffic calculations. I hope that Organic Maps can generate some traffic data in the future. Though, I imagine for it to work well, some sort of open sharing of traffic data would need to happen to avoid fragmentation between apps.
I’ve never quite gotten into wine either. I like most stouts and porters. Bit anything too hopy in my bear and it’s going in the sink. Shame with the whole IPA revolution going on. Other than that cider and cocktails are the only thing I really enjoy consuming. Everything from the sweet Swedish Briska to the most fermented fresh pressed apple cider goes down without much problem.

Yeah that looks cool. I will give it a closer look tomorrow :)
