Federally, ship has already sailed. I’ll still vote for the lesser evil on local matters, as I like school funding
100 isn’t enough to really be worth anything too serious. The smart thing to do is either save it for something bigger or just have fun with it. Best way I spent 100 as a kid was on pizza and shit for me and my friends. A Minecraft server and some pizza is like 30 bucks, provides hours of fun
Buy a copy of Minecraft, best purchase I ever made
I was on Tidal forever ago. To answer the most important question, no the higher quality audio files aren’t total snake oil. Certain offerings definitely sound better. Amazon Music generally offers higher sound quality though. Tidal also do pay artists better, but Napster is the best about payment if I’m not mistaken (ironic as fuck).
As for the app though… It’s been a few years, but this is where everything that offers sound quality goes to shit. The desktop player was ass and the website was ass. It didn’t know how to handle Last.fm and other things I’d consider basics for Audiophiles. Amazon Music’s UI was even worse, I cancelled it after 2 days.
Spotify has the best value proposition. Hulu+Spotify for 10 bucks is good. I also question how long Tidal will be able to continue existing.
Don’t have the link, but it’s made by DB0
If we made a big enough boost midsole, would a horse find it as comfortable as a human?
Best non-chromium browser. More customisable.
One of the biggest games I can think of on Unity is Rust, and Facepunch has shown that they don’t really give two fucks about switching engines. Unreal doesn’t really have fairer pricing, but it’s way simpler so they’re gonna lose a lot of business to them
Why are you gonna ask if you’re gonna argue when someone tells you the answer? You said you’re not American or Italian and don’t know about it. Why are you arguing using information you said you know is wrong?
It’s less that the stereotype isn’t true and more that it applies to everybody. American stereotypes are widely based on racist enforcement of laws. Obviously there are italian crime families, but there are white crime families like the Sacklers that do far worse shit, but we don’t stereotype white people as criminal masterminds. Italians are considered white in America now though, so they have less stereotypes attached to them.
If America was less racist, you wouldn’t hear about country of origin in crime. I’ve had people of all races sell me cocaine out of the back of the sketchy restaurant.
I’d be more critical if Roblox didn’t require ID verification for 18+ accounts. Think it’s fucking hilarious that Roblox dating would already be doing more than most dating apps lol.
Kbin is definitely the answer here.
Louis Rossman. Right to repair is great
Yeah, I don’t think this will be as good as we want. The amount of technical debt I’d expect in these big programs would be off the charts. It would take a full team of people just to feed in corrections, and they would need to both know COBOL and be willing to kill all the COBOL jobs to do it. It’s a tough ask
I’m still optimistic though because it’s IBM and converting between languages is a billion dollar question. I don’t think IBM would do a truly irresponsible deployment of such big corporate changes. I’d expect IBM to do a LOT of testing before sending anything out that would actually change the world, such as banking software. But in could be wrong.
I don’t think the LLM is gonna do that great of a job with it for this reason, but still worth giving a shot. ChatGPT is a well trained coding chimp. You realistically could get a well trained chimp to start off a lot of projects and have people finish it. The fact that it can correct itself after you explain how it’s wrong is very powerful as well.
LLM isn’t gonna be useful for converting a single program from COBOL to Java, it is gonna be useful for converting many programs from COBOL to Java. I bet IBM is trying this on their own shit first before they try to sell it to customers, because language conversion software would be a HUGE but very boom based money.
This is what in thinking. Even the few people I know IRL that know COBOL from their starting days say it’s a giant pain in the ass as a language. It’s not like it’s really gonna cost all that much time to do compared to paying labor to rewrite it from the base, even if they don’t end up using it. Sure, correcting bad code can take a lot of time to do manually. But important code being in COBOL is a ticking time bomb, they gotta do something.
Yeah, maybe not ebay. I used Swappa back in the day and that was cool. But phone hardware hasn’t improved THAT much in the past 5 years. You can go pretty far back and have a pretty decent phone. Android phones lose their value a lot faster so you can usually get them super cheap. Should probably buy unlocked
Yeah but we’re talking 2.5 inch drives, and we’re talking about less than a terabyte of storage. There is no good reason to pick a physical drive HDD over an SSD when they’re practically the same price at that storage level. SSDs are simply safer to move, there are no moving parts, dropping an SSD isn’t that concerning, dropping an HDD can easily kill it. I mean think of this this way. There IS a physical reader that goes across the entire disk. That doesn’t exist in an SSD. It’s hard to do, but you can realistically take a hard drive and just SHAKE it to death with your hand, make the reader fall out of place. While shaking a solid state is more like just shaking a giant flash drive.
