That’s not a reason to stop trying. That’s unusually bad luck in therapists.

There are happily married people that don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s a Hallmark holiday—i.e. it was invented by a greeting card company. Its only meaning is the one you give it. Why give it the power to make you feel bad?

What do they want to do?
An iPad with a keyboard can serve the needs of a significant amount of users. I know people for whom it’s their only device apart from a phone.
A hardcore gamer will want Windows. Linux can play a lot better of games natively or fairly easily via Proton. macOS has some good ones natively but playing via Wine is more complicated. Some specialized industry workflows will require it. Windows-only games and applications are the only reason to recommend Windows.
Mac/macOS is great general purpose hardware and software. Good applications are available for art, science, engineering and productivity and it’s certified Unix. The ecosystem can be slick—Handoff from/to iPhone, unlock with Watch, TimeMachine backups, etc. Support people are usually native speakers from the same country. Some good native games and some through Wine are possible but Window and Linux have significantly more.
Linux can work for basic email, productivity and web browsing. Gaming choices are better than macOS but Windows is still better. They don’t have to worry about ads or the next interface fad being forced on them. They’ll likely need a bit more hand-holding and support down the road. They’ll need a Linux guy but they can be up and running on old/cheap hardware.

There are bots. Some are self-identified and some even put ‘bot’ in the username. There are bots that just repost from Reddit, bots that post only articles from a specific site/publication—like the BBC bot.
There’s not as much use for Reddit-like karma farming bots because karma isn’t really a thing on Lemmy/piefed/etc. But, there are definitely bots that that post agenda-pushing content or SPAM pushing content.
I assume any account with only posts or extremely high post to comment ratio is a bot. I wish they would force participation requirements for posting.
You also have troll accounts and weird accounts that will make one controversial post and then ghost.
You don’t mention the most important part of the above comment: asking her how she feels to have something stolen and asking how she thinks someone who’s had something stolen feels.
That’s different than telling her how someone would feel. The point is to develop empathy. At her age she should be capable of theory of mind. You want to focus on developing the skill of modeling others’ feelings in response to her own actions.
Get her to think about how someone else feels rather than tell her. This shouldn’t be just an exercise for hurtful actions, either. It’s equally important for good feelings. “You gave me a hug! That made me feel so good inside!” “Look at that puppy. I wonder if he’s happy?”
“I wonder” is a powerful way to unlock someone’s brain to expand their consciousness about the world around them. It gently invites them to follow the path you’re trying to lead them on and it shows you how they are seeing the world. People naturally like to have the answer especially when someone else displays some ignorance.
(“I wonder” works on everyone, not just kids. It’s especially helpful with people with dementia.)
Are those AI generated? How do they both look so bad?
