No1@aussie.zoneto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the funniest belief you had when you were a child ?9·7 months agoNot me, but I have heard that kids used to think ‘olden times’ were black & white, because all old films were before the introduction of colour. Like, it’s only in the last 80? years that people see in colour…
It makes me giggle when modern movies use b&w to depict pre 21st century, or even ‘flashbacks’ are b&w

No1@aussie.zoneto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What discussion you know you are on the wrong side of?12·8 months agoIf we’re 3 meals away from chaos, or 9 meals away from anarchy, human rights won’t be unimportant, but would you place them above your own survival or feeding your children?
It’s the subtext for so many doomsday/zombie movies. When it really comes to the crunch, what wouldn’t you do ?
No1@aussie.zoneto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the strangest insult that you have ever received/given?7·9 months ago“You know enough to be dangerous”
It can be used as either an insult or a compliment.

Robots did everything. Everyone was given housing, food etc. Health was covered and people lived virtually forever. Nobody worked, and you could travel and do anything you wanted.
The most prized thing, that everyone was desperate for, was having an original thought.

That it’s never too late!
The ‘brands’ they are displaying.
I see people checking me and others out. What runners are they? Jordans or KMart? Is that a Lacoste or walmart? Is that a real Rolex or D&G handbag?
But for me, it’s not judging them like you think.
I judge them flashing brands as a sign of insecurity, a need to appear wealthy and ‘fit in’, and a likely ‘keep up with the Jones’ jealous type.
So, I actually feel sad for them.
And, yes, I am aware it’s super judgemental and I’m no doubt hypocritical as well, as there are some things I will buy certain brands for.

Oh, wait. All the pages are dynamically generated,.so both of those are dated now. 😥

"Wow, sadly I think it means that person has some serious mental issues, and we should get them some help.
Are you feeling okay? Do you want me to call someone for you?"

It’s sensible. It stops the electrons from falling out!

I’m not British. I just inherited mostly their system.
TBH, i laugh about both.
Eg the english language is a joke. Laugh? Larf? Laff?.

No1@aussie.zoneto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Non-Americans who have been to the US.. What is the weirdest thing about America that Americans don't realize is weird?274·9 months agoSeems to have deliberately taken the opposite path of anything British:
- Drive on the wrong side of the road
- The light and power switches are upside down
- Weights & measures. Imperial? Ha!
- Screw your English dictionary. Ima put z’s everywhere, drop the letter u and randomly pronounce words like buoy so you think there’s an animal in the water over there
It kinda makes me laugh to think about it as just anti-British 🤣

There could be some wild confusion if a New Zealander were to say “I’ve got a massive eruction building up” 😆
Been using Magic Earth with Android Auto, and it’s been working great. I prefer it over Organic Maps. While I prefer Organic’s privacy focus, it was laggy on my phone and search also was more fussy and difficult to find things.
I love offline maps. I only have data enabled when I want internet access.
Magic Earth can do directions for walking without data enabled. Google Maps with an offline map still requires data to generate a route for walking.
