Shattered Pixel Dungeon
This has been the only version of the game I’ve ever gotten close to beating. For that reason alone it’s worth mentioning.

Notepad ++ is invaluable for writing code, I’ve used it for a long while now.
Not to pick an argument, but as a dev VSCodium has been a significantly better experience. It’s a good text editor, it’s got good search functionality, can be used as an IDE, and has good support through extensions.
And more of a shallow reason, it’s got much better dark mode support.
2nded
Been using this for a few weeks now, and it is really fucking convenient
Actual - Accounting/budgeting/etc
Wrote up a python script or three to handle parsing my bank CSV export files into an actually usable form, with automatic categorization, and so now I just do a periodic export and sync, and have all my financial records all in one place with some nice visualization, categorization, and budgeting features from Actual. It saves everything to a local sqlite db, so I can always jump ship to a different system if needed, and also itself provides a CSV export option.
10/10 software, would recommend
Sure, but would it be possible to artificially simulate a daylight cycle indoors, opposite of the outside one?
Sure, you wouldn’t be able to go outside very much, but you’d at least have your active hours in the coolest part of the day.
Add in a bit of of CRISPR to smooth out the rough edges, would it be enough then?
Yeah, I checked that off my bingo/drinking game as well
I know you’re joking, but if the U.S. does actually collapse, very few people on the planet will have the fortune of being unaware.
Predictably, it was a shit show. Trump was doing his normal routine of batshit crazy stupidity. Harris was level headed and sensible, minus the bit about the “most lethal army” and pro fracking stuff. It’s mind boggling to me that to think that it will sway votes. How could you possible look at these options and change your mind only after the debate? But at the same time I know it doesn’t matter, I know that there are still people who will somehow be swayed.
Fucking legends if they do
I’m very sorry for your bad user experience! What you’ve described, sounds like some basic user errors which would’ve been easily solved by sticking to good modeling practices
The most egregious issue I had was in trying to loft between two faces, such that the curve between the faces was a 3D one.
In Fusion360, it’s pretty damn simple, you click the first face, ctrl+ click the second, then select the loft option. Then it’s pretty much done.
In FreeCad/Ondsel, in trying to look up a tutorial to see how such an operation is normally done, the only tutorial that got me remotely close was this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv53D00KdGQ
Following the tutorial would lead to errors, crashes, and even if it had worked, it is such a painful way to do this operation.
So this isn’t simply an issue with bad modeling practices. Maybe it’s a terrible tutorial and there is better options out there. But the ease in which it is possible to do this task in Fusion360 should be the gold standard.
They fundamentally solve the Topo-Naming-Problem I propose to try again after the next release.
I’m not super familiar with that problem, as it has been a minute. But I might try to give it another go at some point.
I don`t know the #Onsel fork. In what way does it differ from #Freecad or Freecad from #realthunder?
From a user perspective, it has a much more friendly UI in my opinion. When you click on an object, it displays a list of all possible actions you can take with said object. That to me was a huge upgrade over the base FreeCad implementation.
Fusion360
Tried out FreeCad/Ondsel, and just couldn’t get it to cooperate. Trying to do even basic changes would constantly result in errors/crashes. I spent maybe two weeks trying to make a single model. Then I tried making the same model in Fusion360 and was done in an half an hour. Granted, there is a huge difference in experience level here between these pieces of software, but still.
So I think my best bet for now is a jailbroken copy of Fusion360.
Yes so we need to understand it.
Sure. I never said we shouldn’t understand it.
Understanding != continued existence.
But with that said, capitalism has proven itself to be unsustainable and in need of replacement. The longer we take to replace it the worse things are going to be.
Feudalism was once a part of building blocks upon which we all stood.
“Thing could be worse” is not a valid argument against improving things.
The building manager, Oscar, was recently put in charge of the whole department/building because things weren’t working out well. Well it got worse under Oscar. First he made a push to end working from home, and then he got into so many arguments and fights with my boss Theo. It didn’t take long for Theo to say fuck it and leave, which is when things got worse.
For a 2 month period or so, our entire team of like 13 people were in limbo with no direction. Oscar temporarily took control of our team until he found a replacement. And in that time he constantly was grilling us for answers about what our team did and how it worked. Not fun. A little bit later he fired two people off our team.
We then got a replacement manager, David. He’s not the best manager, but he’s not the worst. He struggles to comprehend what our team does, but he trusts that we know enough to get by with a little bit of direction on what project we should be working on. Another 2 people left over the course of a few months on their own.
Then in March, Oscar fired about 30 people across the department for “budget” reasons. From what I heard, the company lost a shit load of money due to all the project delays. Those delays have only gotten worse now that morale is in the garbage. Nobody wants to work hard at a place they fear they will be fired from at any moment while constantly being interrogated by Oscar. Some more people left on their own over the following months.
Cut to today, and there are 5 people left on the team I’m in. And I put my two weeks notice in because I got a better job. I don’t know what kind of shit show it’s gonna turn into, or what’s gonna happen when there is nobody left on my team. But on my team at least, every member has been looking for the door, and it’s been a race to not be the last person still working there.
So yeah, if your a manager, maybe don’t interrogate people and make people fear for their livelihoods.
I’ve definitely ‘abused’ the hell out of that. But at a certain point with the original, it seems like all the little tricks I learned hit an upper limit to their usefulness.
The original was just brutal.
I’ll definitely have to give that a try next time.
