As far as I know, that would be legal. It’s the circumventing of the encryption that’s problematic. I am not a law stylist though.
In the USA if you are circumventing some digital lock (encryption) in order to create the backup, it is illegal. The DMCA fucked us out of our rights to an archival copy.
I had a Star Fox version!
Or interested in emulation in general. The progress reports are always well written.
Try renaming the file first. It may not actually be in a different format.
I’m happy iPhone owners are getting some control over their devices!
Ah, fair. If it were a Steam license, it would be trivial to switch to the native build. Damn Epic!
Try Proton-GE instead. You might get a couple of FPS more
I think epoxy is the best bet, but next time you need to use super glue, try adding baking soda to the mix. It makes super glue much stronger.
🕺
Sure. I don’t believe the source is going to disappear altogether, though I do believe it’s going to get harder to find as time goes on.
Parts of that repo are already 404ing unfortunately
You really need to check. Most of the time they are not put in with normal recycling because of the mercury hazard.
I worked help desk 20+ years ago, and it wasn’t different then.
I think what we’re seeing is simply more people who would have avoided tech now being forced to use it - badly, I might add.
I didn’t open the link, so yes that’s why I asked. NBD
I like emulation a lot even just as a user, but not only because we get to play games. I’m interested in the research and design phases too. I own a MiSTer, and I look forward to Patreon posts describing technical discoveries during the authoring of cores (Robert Peip’s posts in particular). So given that and the fact that you’ve stated your primary aim is research, I hope you don’t mind the following question as it’s not meant to question the purpose of your project: what do you hope to accomplish in your research since the GameCube is fairly well understood already?
Yep. I went though the process a second time which was far faster but required me to hold down the power button to get it to boot afterward. No other problems with it after that though.
