I don’t think it would be. A sudden influx of votes from users from a new instance who never posted or commented would be pretty obvious I’d say.
Can you be more specific on what reminds you of prisons with your schools? I don’t think any of my schools in Germany looked anything like a prison.
I would personally be annoyed by such a person and not want to associate with them. I have no issue with religious people, or even talking to them about religion, but if they’re just constantly preaching or trying to convert me, that would get on my nerves very quickly.

I’d say it’s a good place to live for me. It’s safe and has a high standard of living. There are many nice cities, villages and natural areas to see but it’s also a great hub for travel to other European countries, thanks to its central location. I live in a medium-sized village near the blackforest and it’s a nice, calm place with lots of nature around.
Do come visit, I’m sure you’ll have a great time! I’d say go for Munich over Berlin, as you’ll see more of the traditional German (well, Bavarian) culture while still being a large modern city.
Germany has its problems though. Our infrastructure, while still good, is starting to crumble, our industry has trouble keeping up and our politicians are ineffective. Like in many places, the far-right is on the rise and with it anti-migration rhetoric like you’ve heard from your grandpa. For what it’s worth, I haven’t had any issues with migrants. Migration comes with challenges, sure, but it’s also something that enriches us, as well as something that Germany needs, due to our otherwise aging and shrinking population.
People on the Internet like to jump to conclusions, usually the most drastic ones. There’s certainly no way for a random person to conclude whether the guy is transphobic just from what you wrote.

Any “IRL Yandere” would be a horrible person IMO. I don’t see any issues with liking such tropes in fiction, but in real life, stalking and that kind of obsessive behaviour is definitely not okay. I would just stay far away from that community.

Nah, that’s just not the case for Pokemon. Looked it up and in the Japanese version he says 「たんパンうごきやすくっていいぜ」or “It’s nice that shorts are easy to move in”. Same meaning basically, dude just likes shorts in any version.
That’s actually a legal gray area in Germany. It’s unclear whether the browser cache legally counts as downloading. In any case, it’s not enforced. It’s only torrenting/uploading that gets people into trouble.
“Advertise” to me implies a commercial purpose. So for a Lemmy community “promote” sounds more appropriate IMO.

I see it as a lighthearted way to refer to AI in a way that makes fun of people who think it’s this amazing technology of the future, when it’s really just a fancy statistics machine that can’t separate between truth and fiction.

I don’t know about him specifically, but I’d say it’s a shift in opinion that many of us went through. 2008 was a very different world. Amazon wasn’t quite the evil empire it is today. It was one of the only usable online shops, leagues ahead of almost everything else available.
My company has 2 CEOs. One of them doesn’t ever really talk about AI. The other one is personally obsessed with the topic. His picture on Teams is AI generated and every other day, he posts some random AI tutorial or news into work channels. His client presentations are mostly written by ChatGPT. But luckily, nothing is being forced on us developers. The company is very hands-off in general (some may say disorganized) and we can pretty much use any tools and methods we choose, as long as we deliver good results. I personally use AI only occassionally, mostly for quick prototyping in languages and frameworks I’m unfamiliar with. None of the other devs are very enthusiastic about AI either.
Browsing various art platforms, when I see a user where I’m not entirely sure if their art is AI (usually I think I can tell immediately though), I check how old their profile is. If it’s older than 2024, I check how their art from before that year looks. If there hasn’t been a sudden and radical shift in style and skill, I consider the art human-made. Otherwise, likely AI.
That method might be a tad unfair to artists who are only starting out now, but I don’t know of any better way.

The pedant in me also feels the need to point out that the 1600s weren’t medieval though.
Society expects men to be “tough” and not show too many emotions. So men are less likely to have someone they can emotionally lean on and with whom they can talk about their feelings, even if they have many friends. Obviously it doesn’t mean that women can’t feel lonely. You wouldn’t go into a discussion about femicides and be like “Don’t men get murdered too? Wtf?”, right?
I don’t know if there are currently any automated systems against it, but with Lemmy votes being public, I think that someone would notice it happening sooner or later. If it became a huge problem, automated systems could certainly be developed.
