Flocks of migrating birds. I feel like they know something important that I don’t.

Believe it or not, some of my clients have to deal with this very question.

There is no actual mechanism for kicking a member state out.

You can try to starve them out by not sending any financial support, which has worked a little (Poland), but clearly is not enough.

They did qualify it with the adjective “small” and quantified it by stating there were 10 patients. I mean, it doesn’t look to me like they are trying to make grand claims unsupported by their work.

No this was the simulation of the entire group that was about to subsume as to how they would react to finding out their very important religious document was actually an alien experiment. I think the mind was the Mistake Not… .

One of the Minds in Ian M Banks’ last novel, The Hydrogen Sonata, faces and addresses exactly this problem. Much is at stake, so it’s a meaningful discussion.

Yes but eventually no. I’m in a kind of unique position on this since I immigrated from the States to Europe decades ago and live/lived in popular tourist destinations for Americans.

So, yeah, groups of Americans especially, and some individuals, speak way above the local normative level, football games excluded.

However, over the last four or five years many N American families have moved here, five now in my neighborhood alone. And I see these families all around my city and other places. By and large, they have (perhaps unconsciously?) adopted normative levels of speaking. It’s especially notable in the younger kids.

So, I think people when they visit some place retain their own ways of doing things, because why not they will only be in the country they are visiting a short while. On the other hand, folks who move to another country seem to naturally start to fit in after a while.
