Hell no, it looks terrible so quickly. The patterns to make it look like “wood” or whatever are at most a millimeter deep, so enough usage and suddenly you have a worn out blank spot in your giant piece of shit plastic floor.

It outgasses forever, you’re funding the fossil fuel industry, it looks and feels like shit, and you’ll throw it out in 5-10yrs.

Tldr, fuck linoleum, it is inferior in all but one metric: water resistance.

MicroG is a fully open source, much smaller codebase (reduced line count) vs proprietary google binaries. I wish I could run microG on graphene, but absolutely will choose microG on calyx vs sandboxed play svcs.

Nah, I like using C for low level stuff, it balances that it’s reasonably high level and procedural with pretty great performance, size and flexibility. ASM is faster, but you are slower when it comes to understanding someone else’s work.

For projects that aren’t size or performance sensitive, write it in python or whatever the fuck you like, idgaf.

I work in energy r&d, and have for several jobs over the years now.

My sadness is transmuted into passion for solving these issues from the ground up. Top brass is interested in “stock options” and blah blah blah, I’m just focused on solving technical problems to make efficient, powerful energy production that isn’t hard on the earth.

The money won’t matter if there’s nowhere to live. My efforts may not be enough, ultimately, but I’ll die knowing I tried to help solve the problems we’ve caused.

Originally mechanical, moved over to high speed power by volunteering and taking on projects that needed more EE stuff vs ME.

I work in research and development, in terms of stress and fulfillment, jobs are invariably a mix of the two. You’ll need to build a portfolio of interesting personal projects which are useful, the ability to be creative and flexible… You know, stuff that helps you stand out, comparatively.

Do your time, just get your foot in the door. But do something more advanced with that time than you’re asked to, if you intend to demand more pay from other companies. And don’t plan on sticking around for more than 3 years, you only get real pay bumps by moving around, so it seems.
