A notepad, calculator, and pen
Worked over the summer, then after I got a 4 season canvas tent and have been staying in it past few months learning the ins and outs of offgrid life. Put my Electrical degree to use by building up a small solar system. Learned a hell of a lot about keeping yourself warm.
Currently is been raining kind of hard and the ground isn’t absorbing water well since its cold so water has been seeping into the floor of my tent, obviously that’s not great so m current focus is on getting a platform built for the tent to go up on.
After that I want to get a wood stove since heating with propane cost a little bit compared to finding free woof to burn, but I am worried that the smoke and smell would draw too much attention. May have to just live with propane until I get my own property that isnt fucked by an HOA but I REALLY want a wood stove just cause I think its rad as hell and our neighbors have a bonfire all the time so what’s the difference really. Maybe I’m worried over nothing and nobody would care really.
My sibling burned their life down with some stupid bs and their kids ended up in the system so I’ve been kind of stuck helping my elderly parents through the foster/adoption process since may. Its been a massive headache and I didn’t get to go camping like I wanted to but sometimes doing the right thing means making sacrifices to your own self interest. Hopefully well have them by Christmas and I have enough cash left by spring to go camping before job hunting.
It could be a hallucination or it could not, check your monoxide detector, double check you aren’t schitzo/predisposed to more serious forms of hallucinations and setup a webcam pointed at the door + the painters tape like someone else suggested.
Maybe it was a one off groggy sleep hallucination, maybe your being poisioned by gas, maybe your ass is haunted or someone crept into your home.
Thank you for sharing, this looks awesome! Will have to look into getting some.
Wire stripping and crimping. Especially if you plan to do offgriding homesteading with solar but occasionally comes up in home applications when you want to revive a mangled extension cord or install a fixture. Specialized cables start to add up very quickly its much more cost effective to buy a big bag of connectors, a big roll of decent gauge wire, dig out an old set of wire cutters+needlenose and fire up a 2 minute instructions yt video. Like all other skills it takes time and error to get good at it but its not too terribly difficult as wel as very cool to essentially build your own electrical grid from the ground up with wires and connectors you made yourself…
I’m thankful for the shelter, heat, and electrical power I worked hard to have this year, that I am debt free and have enough in the bank to make it at least to spring without working if I wanted to. I’m thankful that my family members are still all alive and that the future still has hope.
About number 2, invidious got a letter sent to them by youtubes legal goblins a few months ago trying to make the argument that downloading vids is violating their TOS. The thing is, invidious doesnt use YouTube’s APIs and instead uses the regular way browsers stream content to do its thing. Nothing ever came of this and invidious is still going strong, so while YouTube/google would really really like 2. To be true in order to murk the 3rd party scrapers, as it currently stands it as long as they aren’t using YouTube’s APIs they aren’t breaking TOS (that they never agreed to)
I’m not a lawyer though and could be wrong, this is just my current uneducated understanding of that situation. Just my 2c

Your web browser or app downloads videos whenever you stream them, nothing illegal about it. Only difference when you use yt-dl is that the video gets saved on your device storage instead of being cached temporarily.
Dwarf fortress I was always into it conceptually and think that all the under the hood simulation stuff is rad as hell and its fascinating how emergent narrative arises from such complexity.
Also love kruggsmash’s videos, the bastards a legend. He’s what got me into it.
But pre steam release I just could not get into actually playing it. Even with tile sets and such. I tried, I really did. But the horrid UI and high amounts of game ending bugs were just too much.
The steam release was the only game I’ve truly been hyped for in my adult life. I was giddy like a kid and got it the SECOND it released, and finally fell in love with PLAYING the game and not just hearing about it. Its so fun building up a fortress and getting invested in your little dwarves well being, hidden surprises they put in to spice things up. Every month there’s an update, even if is just a small peacemeal to let us know things are happening and adventure mode is coming along.
After playing for a while and learning enough to know how much you dont know, you can feel the limitless passion and raw intelligence that is the foundation for the insanely rich systems you work with. It feels like a living world in your computer. The closet thing to true technological magic I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with.
Some instances will query certain engines that others won’t. If you want google based results you probably don’t want an instance that doesn’t query google.
Geographical location of the server can determine your connection speed, the closer a searxng instance Is to you physically like in your home country the faster it will connect.
Some searxng instances are more popular than others, and the more popular an instance the more likely it will occasionally be rate limited. Choosing an instance that isn’t too popular helps even the load.
I like https://paulgo.io btw
I occasionally come back to this for a good laugh
chatgpt is neutered in a lot of ways if you want to experience the coolest stuff ai has to offer you need to host your own llm
Get a dry herb vaporizer like the arizer air max as the smoke all be much cleaner for you
Buy some cheap hemp flower or pot and mix it with the tobacco, slowly skew the ratio towards hemp flower/pot over time. Throw a little dried lavendar in there too if you have access to the plant
Micro dose on magic mushrooms daily, not enough to trip just enough to feel good, for some reason I hate smoking anything while on mushroom trips and have heard personal stories of people quitting cold turkey
While drinking at night with my buddy and his friend they decided it would be fun to start punching each other. No I’m not kidding they weren’t even fighting or anything just typical young adult male macho bs just wanted to see who could take more punishment. They tried getting me in on it lol nah no thanks. Had to hold my buddy up as we drunkenly wobbled home.

If you are a smoker particularly of pot arizer will most likely have some great deals for their dry herb vaporizers. I LOVE my portable air max and desktop extremeq. Practically no smell, makes the smoke session last 10x longer, exact temp controls, and its much cleaner smoke than traditional combustion your lungs really feel the difference.
There’s nothing quite like a hard fat combustion bowl hit, but dry herb capes are the way to go.
Staying at home and valuing your time/self worth over the deals at physical stores. We can shit talk amazon all we like, online shipping is a godsend for anyone who remembers what black Fridays at walmart supercenters is like. People pitching tents and forming mile long lines just to snag A on-sale game console or TV or whatever. Being nearly flattened by a supershopper on some crack for the fifth time. is just not worth it.
Getting a strong feeling this was inspired by EtherealSnakes masterpiece ‘Mickey Never Came Back’ series
