‘Honest Doc, that’s exactly how it got up there!’
That’s a great idea, thanks :)
This is all very helpful, thank you :)
Any Creative Commons license will require the festival to list a credit for your work. That might not be an issue for the app or website, but the festival might not be interested in listing “poster by Tippon, used under a Creative Commons 4.0 license” every time they use something you created on social media, in print, or advertising.
I didn’t know about that. I thought they might have to credit me, but didn’t know that it would need to be on the work itself. I definitely don’t want that. I hadn’t thought about third parties either. I doubt that anyone would try to rip us off, but I don’t want to leave that door open either, just in case.
I’m not overly concerned with future clients, as I’m medically retired and just doing this as a learning exercise. There’s a tiny chance that I might get future work from this, but I’m more concerned with not cutting myself off from using the website / app template if I was to fall out with the festival at some point. As you say though, I don’t want to leave either me or the festival open to having the content stolen either.
I’ve just realised that I need to double check how to handle third party images too. We have some local businesses who support the festival, so we use their logos as links on the site. If I include them in the repository, I don’t want to accidentally give them away.
I’ve got some reading to do! :D
This is a good point, thank you :)
I was thinking along the lines of not restricting myself from using my own work in the future, but I hadn’t thought about third parties being able to use it too. I’m not concerned about other people using the code behind the website, for example. I’m still learning, so it’s probably more spaghetti than anything decent, but @jqubed@lemmy.world pointed out in their reply, I wouldn’t be able to stop anyone from using graphics etc.
Either that, or the page says that it’s been updated in the last month, but the content is about how to connect to the World Wide Web ‘(WWW)’ with a free AOL floppy disc
That’s brilliant, thank you :)
This is very helpful, thank you both :)
It’s an Epson Stylus, 235w I think. I’m not home to check at the moment. It’s not amazing, but it scans at up to either 1200 or 2400 dpi, and I usually use 600 dpi, as that’s more than enough for the typically low quality photos I’ve got.
I’m sticking with it on Windows for now too, as the software can do some corrections with one click, like certain colour corrections. I’ve tried a few Linux packages, and while they’re good, they’re all missing something compared to the Epson Windows software.
I use Onedrive for storing files offsite, and a Synology NAS for onsite. I’ve got my PC as the main source of my files, and use Syncthing to sync to my laptop and NAS, and Onedrive syncing the PC and NAS to the cloud.
I know Onedrive isn’t always popular here, but it does everything I need, and is cheap. It also lets me access my files from my phone
This is why I’m scanning in all my old physical photos. It’s great to go through the originals, but if anything was to happen, they’d be gone forever.
I need something like a pressure only on the left side of my sternum on just two ribs.
Could you fold over some gauze and bandage it in place as a temporary fix? The bandage could be wrapped around your body to spread the pressure on the opposite side.
It wouldn’t be a permanent fix, but could help you to fine tune where you need the pressure without having to design anything, and would hopefully provide some relief while you work on something better.
I can’t decide if that would be too sweet with the apple sauce base. That might have to be an experiment :)
That’s a good point. I haven’t cooked anything with apple that could go soggy for years, so I hadn’t thought of that. Pulled pork and apple pizza is sounding nice though :)
Why is apple a bad idea? Apple with pork and cheese is delicious :)
Not my kid, but this made me laugh.
Picking my kid up from school after a funeral, I saw one of the teachers standing in the rain while sending the kids to their parents, so I stood next to him with my umbrella. One of the kids looked back at him to say goodbye, did a double take, and just stopped dead. Looking me up and down in my black suit, she asked the teacher ‘Sir, is this your butler?’
I commented on the last post about this, the three stars are difficult to make out on a small screen, they look like a blurry capital A. On top of that, it’s apparently used in astronomy to represent clusters of stars, like a constellation.
The whole point of this campaign appears to be to replace a unique symbol with one that’s already in use and is hard to read at small sizes 🤷🏻♂️
Freespirit Graham.
My father used to book acts for a local club, and this guy played there once. He was awful. There’s no nice way to say it, he just really wasn’t very good. He played and sang songs that nobody recognised, and did it badly. To make things worse, he was paid, but went around with his hat at the end of the set asking people for money. Needless to say, he didn’t get a good reception.
About a year or so later, my father booked another singer, and it was the same guy going under a different name. The music night was popular, so there was a decent sized crowd already there when he walked in, and quite a few of them remembered him. My father asked him what he was doing there, and he said that he thought it was worth a try.
He was told to leave without playing, as the people who remembered him were already annoyed, and weren’t the type of people to suffer a fool kindly.
As well as your chosen languages, select Undetermined too. Some Lemmy clients don’t automatically select your language when you post or reply, so if the user doesn’t notice, their reply is classed as undetermined rather than their language.
Choosing Undetermined as a language option lets you see those posts and replies 👍
Pizza Hut - Domino’s - local takeaway - Papa John’s
The Pizza Hut does fantastic pizza, but doesn’t deliver, and is too far away to get takeaway from.
Domino’s is ok. They do decent pizza, but have been getting more and more stingy with the cheese, and are hideously expensive.
The local takeaways all use the same supplier, and the pizzas are average. They can be amazing from time to time, but that’s the exception.
Papa John’s opened here a few years ago, so we tried it. The pizza was so bad that none of us finished it
It’s the last one for me
