Oh I know. I think I’ve lost any remaining hope for the US today after reading that a bill to extend presidential term limits has been introduced. Honestly if you just make a list of solutions to the terrible problems we have and then take their opposites, that’s what’s getting done right now.

Your line of thinking however prefers to dismiss talks about the popular vote as though what people are thinking in the country broadly is off topic or irrelevant. How the hell do we change this if no one is ever allowed to mention the topic without a naysayer reminding us the popular vote is meaningless?

I find this line of thinking so defeatist. Yes, we all know the electoral college is the system, but all also know it’s a sham and almost every honest person hates it because it undermines the idea of democracy. Imo the day people stop thinking the popular vote is what should count is the day we all collectively gave up on democracy.

Further confusing is that Mac keyboards have the backspace key labeled as “delete”. Which makes sense really, but when the universal way to refer to that key is backspace, it’s just them being stubborn morons who don’t want to change it. They could’ve labelled the escape key “exit” or something else on that same logic but didn’t. I like a lot about MacOs (nothing else about apple though) but some of the hard lines they’ve taken are just idiotic to me. In finder you cannot cut files… I’ve read the long winded justification and it can fuck off. Every other platform lets you do that. It’s convenient and not confusing at all but apple people will insist cutting a file doesn’t make sense.
