In what way, specifically, are Chinese EV trucks better than European ones?

Yeah, I’ll admit it was a one sided take, I’m a truck driver so I look at it from a drivers point of view. If I have to sit in a cab for 9-11 hours per day and then sleep in it, I’ll always choose a Euro model.
And the fact is, Chinese products will always be cheaper than European ones, manufacturing costs are wildly different between the places. Euro EV trucks have excellent tech in them, maybe the actual manufacturing pace is lagging behind thats true. But even if we had switched to making only EV trucks, the price difference would still be there.

Rather ignorant take to be honest.
This is not about innovation. Its about price. European trucks are so much better with driver comfort and driver aids than anything I’ve seen. I go to 2-3 truck shows per year and all the non-EU stuff is still a bit “nasty” at best and horrible at worst in quality and comfort.
The problem is, China doesn’t have the same workers protection and benefits to deal with as EU companies. EU makes better products but at a higher price. I hope we don’t go to the American way of big trucking companies not giving a shit about the comfort and welfare of their drivers. Maybe the EU needs to take some action and subsidize EU made truck purchases or something, I don’t know. The attraction of saving tens of thousands of €'s on a single truck purchase is probably very tempting to the trucking companies, even if the real cost is drivers being miserable.

If you want a mindfuck, check out what the Holy Roman Empire consisted of lol. Germany and central Europe used to be full of tiny kingdoms, principalities and whatnot.

It’s strange to think, but in the late 90s, albums were a bit of a cynical play. “I like this band or performer, let me get all that they have to give. I will spend $20+ on an album where a $5+ single might have given me the best they had to give.”
Yeah thats the thing. The artist has to be interested in making a album not just making a few hit songs and then filling up space. Luckily thats mostly a issue with pop music, the stuff I listen to tends to be more in line with creating a package.
One of the best things an album can do is put you into a sort of a trance, where you just listen and sink into the music. Only when the album ends you snap out of it, wipe the drool off your face and chest, get up and try to deal with life again lol.

I vote for listening to full albums as well.
As a youngster I used to have a massive playlist, only my favorite songs on it… These days I only listen to full albums, bad/weak songs and all. Its so much better. I’ve realised that a lot of the “bad” songs that I didn’t want to listen to as a youth, are not that bad actually.

I dunno but one of the main reasons I’ve cut my reddit time by ~90% and intend to drop it completely in the near future is because everyone there seems to think that anything that isn’t very obviously agreeing with them, is a invitation to some sort of debate.
Just the other day I give some additional information to someone, in a neutral tone and they got upset, called me dense and whatnot. I see it so much these days, users react negatively to a comment, and then the other person replies in a confused tone and apologizes… or responds in a equally angry manner.
I don’t have time or energy to all that anymore. But also, I hate everyone equally. I should move into a little cabin in the middle of the woods.

I get that for stuff like billboards and tv/radio commercials… But why does google and friends keep telling me about how they need my data to give me targeted ads? If they wanted to give me targeted ads, shouldn’t they first figure out how much I’m willing to pay, then get mad at me because I can’t pay for anything and maybe offer ads for mental health services?
I mean obviously the answer is that they just want the data for control and whatnot. But they should just drop the whole pretending to do targeted advertising. I would probably appreciate their honesty if they just told me that they need my data to grow their business, instead of giving me the “we care about your data” and targeted ads bullshit lol
But anyway, doesn’t really matter for me personally since I use ad blockers, if I can’t use ad blockers, I’ll stop using the service and go read a book.

Sounds to me like your terms are very clear. I’d kick them out

I would have thought that posting to a English language forum would be done in English… I mean I know it doesn’t say specifically to post in English but I kinda assumed it.
I know we have all sorts of technology these days, but it should be on the OP to do the translation. I’ve noticed on reddit there has been a increase in people commenting on their native language, I asked on person, who was commenting in French, why do they not post in English. Apparently new reddit has a translation feature? I wouldn’t know because I used old.reddit. But anyway, I ended up just ignoring the comment rather than going through the trouble of opening a tab, copy pasting the comment, translating the comment, then writing my own comment and translating that.
Also, lots of translators are pretty shit at translating certain languages, for example my native language is Finnish and every time someone uses a translator to speak Finnish to me, its extremely obvious because its nowhere near correct.
So, to answer your question, yes we do have tech, but it fucks up all the time and its not our job to translate posts by others in a clearly English language forum.

EUUU! (said like a new jersey mafioso says “eyyy”)
Can you expand on that a bit?
I’ve always used youtube through the subscribed list. I don’t really use the recommendations, so I think of that as “following people” and not blindly following the content the algorithm throws at me. But I’m having a hard time finding people to follow on peertube. I know there’s the sepia thing, but with that you can find content, not people. I get that its decentralized and all that, but is there no list of creators who use peertube?
I’m very dumb and confused about all this. I’m just trying to get rid of youtube lol. Turns out it’s very difficult.

Yeah I was specifically talking about how google etc tell me that they are offering me “targeted” ads. Point was, if they knew anything about me, they’d know I’ve been poor as fuck for the last 20 years and should advertise food banks etc to me, instead of the latest Macbook Pro AI Super 2000.

I’ve been watching a lot of Antiques Roadshow clips and I imagined one of the appraisers doing a valuation of your shenanigans.
“You bought this magnificent piece sillyness when and for how much?”
“oh I just copypasted it to my profile for no money at all”
“Well that was very good deal indeed, because on in todays money the entertainment value alone is in the hundreds of pounds.”

Isnt that what Floatplane is? I’m broke so I can’t find out lol

If they actually wanted to show ads targeted to me, first thing they would figure out is if I’m capable of buying their stupid bullshit product. I’m poor as the rat in the church, my monthly budget is literally -50€. I can’t afford to buy anything, what good does it do for advertisers to let me know that they have a new phone that costs 1500€ and is 0,05mm thinner than the previous one?

lol I have no idea if it works, but if I watch a random video, I delete it from the watch history because I fear that if I don’t, the algo will go bonkers. So far it seems to work though lol

The “shorts” platform is pure garbage. Can I turn shorts off? No I can “show fewer shorts”.
Once again the pirate version (revanced) of youtube is better than the actual paid version. Revanced and ublock filter take care of shorts for me. Haven’t seen them in months
I thought he’s been rather clear on this? Has he started to waver?
