I just learned HGTV has a Jan 7 2026 show called “Neighborhood Watch”. It’s like America’s Funniest Home Videos, but it’s all doorbell/security cameras. User-submitted, I think. I absolutely refuse to believe this was a casual idea from HGTV as they struggle to maintain viewership. There’s no way this isn’t funded by one of these companies, meant to continue making everyone comfortable with constant surveillance and increasing the desire to have constant recording devices to catch these one-off comedic moments.

Something that may help, if you do end up doing this manually, is utilizing alt+click to highlight in the pdf. It’ll select in a box shape instead of reaching the end of each line like a paragraph. Each line will then get pasted as separate rows in excel. It doesn’t split into columns, so you still have to go with individual vertical selections. It also will break apart multi-line entries like I saw in the description field on your sample, so this will have to be highlighted individually normally. But at least it adds a little speed to those triple coordinate items. Maybe.
It depends on what’s useful to know.
A microwave is a heating device. It’s not useful to know you’re using a 7a microwave on its own. Is it 120v or 220v? What’s important is the wattage, as an indicator of how much heat it can put into food in a given time. A 700w microwave is going to take longer than the instructions say but could be a 3.5a euro oven or a 7a north american oven.
With lights, wattage ignores the change in voltages as well. But it relied upon the tungsten incandescent being ubiquitous. The socket type defines the voltage, so you just want to know if it’s a soft 25w reading light or a 100w for a garage bay. But now, with the prevalence of fluorescent and then LED lights, wattage has become almost irrelevant. They usually list actual wattage in pale text and “incandescent wattage equivalent” in bold. I’m happy to say I’m finally seeing bulbs state actual lumens now, which is what really matters to the end user. LED lighting is now the least of your electric bill worries.
With a car battery, you’re seeing the options in a later stage of market uniformity. Cars used to very commonly have 6v systems, so the 12v system was distinct. Large trucks use 24v (though I think with dual 12v batteries). But for you buying a car battery, just about all passenger cars are 12v. It’s a specific size like “group 65”, so it’s a 12v of certain size and terminal placement. You do have some options for amperage, listed as CCA. You can’t give more amps to the starter, but rather the battery lasts longer per charge and drops voltage less when under load.
But, you will actually see amps listed on power tools. I guess they traditionally had very little export, so the voltage is constant for the market. You can compare amps and take a good guess how two saws will compare. Even still, many tools now list actual specs like rpm and torque
A high amperage device is not what’s at risk. The wiring is. With defined voltages (by way of plug type), devices can’t draw extra amperage, but you can certainly ask the wires for more amperage than they can safely provide. Fuses and circuit breakers do not protect the device, they protect the wires from burning off their insulation, shorting, or catching fire.
But as a caveat, a 120v device plugged into a 220v source will draw too many amps for the device.

Elite Dangerous: there’s currently a player-run expedition sitting on the far side of the galaxy. 8k registered players. They hit some tourist spots but are going somewhere into under-explored regions now. Some people are grabbing exploration payouts. One group wants to find the furthest possible earth-like planet and name it Earth 2, as a backup, in case the aliens come back. The aliens had a huge event that changed the course of the colonies. There’s some neat items added by the developers in honor of players in the first few years. Beagle Point is an easy one, named after one player spent a ton of time with his elderly dog playing the game. The dog passed and got a star named for it. There’s the Fuel Rats and the Hull Seals, two player groups that have a huge network of players that can assist stranded players. There’s noob training groups that train noobs because the instructions are not clear in the game. There’s 3rd party apps and sites to make QoL better. Some players hate it like it’s cheating, I say future humans would definitely make support systems like this because current humans are currently do it (and can we just pretend it won’t fucking get paywalled in the future, for 3 god damn minutes?)
The star wars prequels are political drama with laser swords. The cgi animals were excessive. But it pretty clearly parallels the historic rises to fascism/dictatorship. The Anakin/Kenobi lava scene works way better than it looks. A akin brings balance to the force by eradicating the huge volume of jedi vs 2-2.5 sith. Kenobi loved him like a brother. Well, relationships are forbidden for the jedi, so yeah, Kenobi just admitted anakin is trash to him (OK, that’s a twisted stretch).
Space, real space, is deep. The Hubble images were amazing, how could we learn more with JWST? Well, I literally couldn’t imagine that every single direction in space is filled with more galaxies. That’s insane. That’s terrifying. That’s not understandable in human terms. There is an unfathomable amount of space and we’re never going to tough anything outside our solar system.
Orbital mechanics are cool. You’re thrown sideways so fast you continue to miss the ground. The Earth is moving so fast it’s actually really difficult to bring enough fuel to slow down enough to hit the sun. The Parker solar probe used venus to slow down and it’s still trying to shed speed and get closer. Or maybe it already peaked (valleyed?) at 430,000mph in the solar corona. But every time it gets close, it’s speeding up and still missing. The video from “inside” the sun is kind of comfortable. You can use gravity to slingshot craft. I don’t know about you, but I airways pictured some scifi visualization of hooking around a sun in a parabolic u-turn. That’s not really a slingshot. You leave with the same relative craft-body speed as you approached. If you’re flying 100 000mph towards earth, you’re leaving it at 100kmph. But the earth is orbiting at 67kmph. You can hook a 90deg turn around it and leave in the same direction to add 67k to your speed. You can hook the other way to shed 67k. You showed up as to approach it, but then it pulls you big and eats that speed. But as long as you’re faster than escape velocity, you can choose what happens next.
Lithobraking means crashing into the ground. It’s a real tactic.
Voyager has left the solar system and is a steady ~40,000mph. Space is big. If it was pointed at the next closest star, Proxima centauri at ~4ly, the trip would still take like 70,000 years. It’s not pointed that way, but it is pointed at a star that is traveling somewhat towards us. In that time frame, it is actually predicted to come within 1.6ly of each other (voyager and this other star) in like 40,000 years. For reference, Voyager 1 was launched almost 50 years ago and is still within one light day of earth. It’s close at ~23.5ld, but still not there.
“We know more about space than our oceans” is scary until you realize nearly all stellar knowledge is useless for human life. It’s a massive hobby.

I believe the parent was taking about how ratios between widths and heights are important in terms of building your own models, utilizing pieces that rotate bricks sideways.
One trick I kind of know of is in regards to the ramp pieces having steps when lifted by one brick. It makes that shingled look. I believe the solution is to use ramps (without top pegs) and raise it by 2 plates, sinking the flat lip by 1/3 of a brick. But I have no idea if this requires certain pieces as I’m just tangential to AFOL

No, I’m talking about non-registerable electric bicycles with pedals as intended by the post. I’m not talking about highway-legal electric motorcycles like Zero. Yes, you can buy illegal vehicles. People do. The laws are not enforced in the US. So if a law bans highway-speed bicycles but no one is around to enforce it and users continually break this unenforced law, then the distinction about the safe versions of e-bikes being woefully slower than regulated motorcycles is moot. The actual e-bike user base has demonstrable overlap with highway-legal motorcycles.
I’d bet a dollar it saves one traffic light and I’d bet a second dollar she lives within a quarter mile of the south end of the road. Opened for the relief of the most minor of conveniences.
You can buy e-bikes on amazon that weigh more and travel faster than a Honda Cub, a registerable motorcycle. They’re in Grom territory. This idea, at least in the US market, that they’re fitting into the two classes of safe e-bike is disproven with 30 seconds of observation in any city or adjacent suburb. The only riders pedaling are the leisure riders in parks.
