I have junk scissors that I buy for a couple of bucks and replace as necessary for all the things that I need to cut. I also have kitchen junk scissors for cutting open plastic that food gets packaged in. If I found someone using my poultry shears or kitchen knives for anything besides their intended use I would ask them to leave and never come back.

Don’t touch my tools. That includes the things in my garage, my kitchen tools (cookware, knives, shears, barbecue stuff, whatever), and my electronics tools. I can’t imagine someone using one of my instruments incorrectly, but don’t touch those either. If you want to touch anything, ask. Don’t be surprised if I try to make sure you know the right way to use it before I hand it over.

With Framework, you’re also paying to be able to upgrade. I like the idea of getting a new GPU and just popping it in.

I have the K10 Pro. The K series are great keyboards. Right now mine is mostly stock (red switches, and I changed out WASD even though I don’t really do computer gaming because it reminds me of my misspent youth) because every week I decide on a different switch and keycap combination. Last week I wanted black and purple with super loud clickity clacks. The week before I wanted something silent in light grey, dark grey, and red. Today I was thinking about getting vintage looking typewriter caps.

Is it really even a different suit? With the “reality is a simulation” theory it’s likely whoever created the simulation offloaded a bunch of the mundane tasks to an AI that, if we were to try to interact with it, would be god.

I have a thousand wires hidden under my couch, my rug, my chair, and anywhere else I can hide them. Chargers, home theater, other chargers, smart-ish devices, and whatever else that I don’t even want to go look at.

For real though, I had a variety of jobs when I got out of school. I went into the military, went to college for something that I didn’t want to do, worked in several fields, fell into a job in technology, went back to school, and I’ll retire doing this unless something drastically changes.

I can’t speak to much of this, but I have a friend who works on the technical side of health insurance. Specifically he is helping with FHIR. I did some HL7 work a long time ago which lets health systems talk to each other. FHIR is supposed to be a more comprehensive offshoot (I asked if it was HL7 on steroids and wasn’t corrected).

Unfortunately, I may have misunderstood. My career took me a different path than his so I’m way out of date on it.

I’ve seen a lot of those and tend not to go there. Good luck to them, but I hate the gimmicks.

I visit the farmer’s market pretty often where it’s families selling things they grew or made. I like the tomatoes there and I get to buy better meat that isn’t factory farmed. There’s a regular independent grocery store where my parents live. The prices are a little higher but the produce tends to be better (mostly fresh and local) and there’s actually a butcher in the meat department. Those kinds of places are dying.
