“Visiting websites is fascist” is the most peak terminally online take. Thanks for the laugh.

How many times have atheists rang your doorbell?

Yeah, all those in-your-face atheists with their ad-covered buildings every few blocks and their national holidays and their billboards telling you how to live and their going door to door to tell you how to live. That definitely happens all the time with…atheists.

Well, it’s “free”. They bribedlobbied Congress so that the IRS has to pay the provider with your tax money every time someone uses the “free” offering.

Look up “civil asset forfeiture” to see where the logical conclusion of your flawed thinking ends up in practice.

Because why would any doctor work for 1500€ when they can easily migrate and find a job for 10k+.
Because most people like living at home with their family and friends. Money isn’t everything.

10,000 is just not what it used to be. For example if you are renting a house where you need a damage deposit and to pre-pay the first and last month’s rent. That easily blows past 10,000 these days for a completely normal transaction. Same for most used vehicles.

It makes it harder to run big servers talking to android apps. Instead of them saying “I’m done, goodbye” they will just ghost the server. Then the server has to keep a connection open and waiting around to hear from you again even though you are done.
This isn’t a problem if a few people do it, but if everyone does it then servers could end up spending more time waiting on abandoned connections than doing real work.

@Fredselfish@lemmy.world @NarrativeBear@lemmy.world care to explain yourselves?

There is a lot of research on this.
You provided none

Then we would still have the feature set and security and adaptability and price of that old tech.

I did not have saxual relations with that woman.

Someone’s feeling scared…

Do you really not have access to another internet device? A friend or parent’s phone with a private browser window?

Oligarch control and profiteering. Tax the billionaires out of existence.

They’re unenforceable here too. The only part that is enforceable and insane is “binding arbitration” where you are forced to agree that you won’t sue the company in court but instead you are required to go through a private mediator that the company pays.
What is the effective difference? It’s not like they’re offering long term contracts.
