I ended up using navidrome for my music to take advantage of the subsonic API, which has been phenomenal 🙂

Fair enough! My own experience has so far been less helpful, due to it hallucinating config based on what I’m asking and if my use case is possible, which made me turn more to perusing docs and source code 🙃

Eh, the issue with using AI with something like a self-hosted setup is that it lacks nuance and is most likely sourced from all the stack overflow answers without including, again, any context that might be involved.
This leads to situations where it “works,” but potentially in a way with glaring issues that you would otherwise get from this community.
That said, I understand that “advanced” users here can be uptight about things that they believe to be a foregone conclusion, which is where the whole “learning” aspect is what we all need: both learning to self-host “better” and learning to help others.

If they were more measured in their approach, I bet it would be better. Instead they’re plopping them everywhere with little regard for what it’ll do the impacted community.

Lol that title is a doozy

Premature optimization is billed as a feature nowadays.
So far, so good? The initial rollout was rough, and the app kept reuploading my whole album and then realizing it was already there.
But since the flurry of hotfixes, its been smoother sailing

Another bump for navidrome, I’ve been using it for 4 years and it’s the best.

Thanks, I hate it.

I’ll be that guy that enjoyed The Last Jedi explicitly because it was something different, and leaned into more of the mystical side of the force while on the “big screen.”
I just remembered the hyperspace “weapon” moment, and both how cool it was and how much it could affect the empire. They probably didn’t mean for it, but that you could effectively point and shoot a ship like that was an amazing usage.
I love my xeros, but they are US based right? In Colorado?

Y’all has become my goto nowadays, up in the northeast
They also had a “fire” stick, didn’t they? Not to be confused with Amazon’s fire stick

I see these comments are nothing but good discussion!

“Could it be that we pay the top brass too much? Nonono, that’s not it. Cut workers that depend on us to survive.”

Expanding on this, I also have wireguard setup if I’m not on my home WiFi so can access “as needed” that way

If only they shipped to the US…at least, I didn’t see that option.

Alternatively, set up a VPN into your home and only allow cam access via local network 🙂
As far as network cams are concerned, it’s a pita to find a good one that is also not expensive.
Feel free to correct me, anyone, because I do want a better solution than buying a cheap one and just blocking it from all WAN access in or out.
Switch my ActualBudget authentication to my locally hosted Authelia instance and it was a breeze, with no issues. Always a fantastic feeling.
