I’ve been to several Queens of the Stone Age concerts. But my first, at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in 2011 was the best concert I’d ever been to.

They were playing the reissue of their first album. So the first part of the concert was that album, from start to finish. Then they played other songs. And afterwards they did 2 or 3 encores. I think it was 3, but it was at least 2.

That venue is the old Grand Ole Opry. The seats are narrow wooden pews and it’s got gorgeous stained glass and lots of wood. So it sounds amazing in there.

I knew old cameras needed a long exposure, but an entire year?!

I just recently went through a much more benign, but scary nonetheless version of this.

I realized that my Ansible directory, that I had made public on GitHub to share as an example to some folks, had secrets committed and pushed.

It was the direct URL and credentials of an app I developed to store non-PII customer data. Now, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if someone noticed this and scraped the data, but it wouldn’t be good, either.

Luckily, I have Caddy access logs, and it appears no one ever accessed it.

So I pulled the secrets out of the Ansible directory and made the repo private, I rotated the credentials, and installed Crowdsec to monitor Caddy access logs and ban bad actors.

I only noticed the secrets because I had just setup Authelia as an OAuth2 provider for my homelab, and I was adding it to my backup scripts.

Tarn seems like such a genuine, nice guy. He gets it.

I’m fairly certain I could never work with or interact with him in person. I don’t think he’s a bad person, but I think his political stance and personality would clash with mine really badly.

I still watch some of his videos and support what he does.

We love the second channel content. His brand of chaos is fun and wholesome.

Finding out AvE was really dumb as fuck was a gut punch. I really enjoyed his content and it sucked to walk away. But I dropped it cold turkey when the first video supporting the trucker convoy came out.

I read this as them saying they typically make $30M from selling tickets to an event like this.

I like Freecad. I use it because it’s FOSS. But it’s not as easy to use, sadly.

Davinci Resolve has a free version that is missing some features. They are important features, mind. But it definitely allows you to edit videos and get a good feel for the software to see if you want to purchase it or you can just keep using the free version even.

So it’s free*.

And the paid version is buy once and get a perpetual license. Very non-scummy for a full professional video editing tool.

I was devastated when Google Reader shut down. I switched to another service after that and it shut down not long after that. Maybe a year or so.

I would have paid for that service at the time.

That feels like my relationship with the Democrat party.

Bigotry isn’t subjective. Bigots just tend to think they aren’t bigoted.

I tried LibreWolf. It was such a bad experience.

It’s a shame that the Internet is so bad that the browser has to go to such extreme lengths to give you any privacy that it makes the experience awful.

The fucked up thing is it would be cheaper to make all of their batteries replaceable, because it’s more expensive to manufacture two different kinds. But they’ll spend extra money to make a worse product in other countries because it will make them more money.

I’ve had two of those in the past and really liked them but they died on me too fast.

I just went back with the last big update and got all of the achievements I didn’t have. I had 100%ed it at least once before, but didn’t have any of the newer ones.
