It seems sort of a waste of resources to use a steam deck as a stationary device. However, I don’t think there is a really large market for a console-like steam machine.

Nice app, I’m using it for a while now.
As of this source, the difference is merely 3% in performance. Not worth it, IMO.
I found a price info in the forums:
What price I can expect? Base Model 7840u 16GB/512GB will be 499$ or 4099 CNY Base Model 8840u 16GB/512GB will be 599$ or 4499 CNY
Edit: The same source says there is a touch screen
Etherpad is my personal recommendation.
Racoon is decent, free and open source.
liftoff isn’t compatible with 0.19 and development appears to have stalled.
Redreader got free access to the api, as it is the app that most people with disabilities use.
The 7520u’s performance is roughly a quarter of the Steam Deck’s, making it suboptimal for gaming. However, I came across this video demonstrating the CPU running Cyberpunk 2077 at 13 fps, albeit not playable. Considering this, it suggests that CS2 should be playable; there might be issues with drivers or the CS2 installation.
Sseems like quite a large release.
The year of the wayland Linux desktop!
It is the only issue I had with jerboa, and that makes it the most annoying issue by definition.
But if I have the choice which app to use (and luckily, we have a few options), then I’ll pick the one that works best for me.
I think the UI itself is OK, but it feels very unnatural on an android device.
Jerboa has one open bug that makes it very annoying for me (Issue 194). Thats why I don’t use it anymore. However, this bug does not affect everyone.
Voyager and Liftoff are my favourite apps for Lemmy.
I’m not sure if a steam laptop would be successful. You can install steam on most laptops on the market (with some exceptions like ARM-based laptops or chomebooks). Same applies to a “steam console”, just pick any small PC and put steam in autostart.
However, the deck features innovative controls and a rare form factor. There is just no device that has the same feature set as the steam deck.
I hope that this improve in the coming months. The list is now twice as long as it was half a year ago. (And in theory, one could install steam in developer mode anyway, but that is not very convenient)
Last time I checked, steam on Chromebooks was only available on some selected models (not including the one I have). Has this changed? If not, this announcement will be for very few users (but still welcome).
I would be surprised if this would be possible. It seems that the revision is quite substantial.
This is the second month in a row we’ve seen Simplified Chinese jump up. This time it shows it at 45.93% (+13.71%), which for a single month is pretty huge swing. This has resulted in Windows 10 64 bit hitting 65.58% (+7.61%), sitting well above Windows 11. Every time this uptick in Simplified Chinese use on Steam happens, it brings down the results of everything else.
Honestly, the data quality of the steam surveys seems not optimal. It appears that their “randomness” is flawed.
Thanks, I’m not hungry anymore.
