That’s exactly why I don’t like Linux that damn CIA project. Once I leave parents’ crib, imma sell my best laptop (with no parents looking at me like an absolute moron) then get a ThinkPad T450p from a crackhead and then get someone else to buy that one MacBook CPU with an adapter board from Aliexpress and give that to me so that I can finally compute in peace with some BSD.

There’s another repo with a Docker file and that was all written with Claude too for some reason. Though I don’t see why in the ever living fuck this would need Docker.

Also, why are we even getting excited over a vacuum cleaner existing as a pile of markdown files talking about it? There are lots of these, actually.

For some, functional calls are most important, for others completely cutting power to the modem is important. What is this from?

I am not German, although I would consider that as compliment. I was just looking for an instance that

1. Works on both IPv4-only and more importantly IPv6-only networks (my ISP breaks stuff constantly)
2. Doesn’t block Tor so the Tor comrades can load my attachments
3. Has a proper privacy policy (Germans are most afraid of the GDPR)

It just so happened that this one in Germany meets all 3 requirements. It not being in the US is a bonus. I was on lemmy.today previously.

Just to clarify, English isn’t my native language either, but I am so online that I speak it better than my native and have to machine translate some terms back.

The original Markdown was poorly documented (including in this regard), but most derivatives specify that the numbers are ignored and it just counts from one. Annoying when you are trying to count from zero.

“Full control” and “cell phone” are fundamentally incompatible. Modem firmware is always a black box, most communication hasn’t been reversed yet, the cell towers are black boxes.

Closest you can get is use an actual pocket computer (well, they don’t make those anymore, disable the modem of a smartphone and it’s close enough). And for actual phone calls like for work, you could use one of these MT62xxx phones with MediaTek MAUI. Turn it off when you don’t need.

Before you go port Doom, basically none of them have an application interface compiled in, mostly because they cheap out on enough RAM to be useful with that. Most non-brand ones have fake “Facebook” and “YouTube” apps that just say “Network error” and exit. Although there is some vague leaked code in the footnotes for the article I’ve linked, and the latter one seems to be complete along with .chm documentation files, so could be a fun little project to build something somewhat functional out of it and maybe write a built-in application to share with a patch file (like with those pre-Symbian Nokia nuggets).
