Have you read the story of Panko breadcrumbs?
It came from food and fuel shortages in WW2 where the ingredients for bread but no ovens or equipment to cook it into anything. One guy hooked a bunch of dough up to a car battery and electrocuted it and created a crustless loaf with a weird texture. He also discovered this weird texture made for great even sized crumbs with a uniform colour and after the war ended decided to turn it into a business.

1·6 months agoHaven’t done it in ages but I used to run xquartz on a macbook and do x window forwarding from my desktop. It worked surprisingly well, even on remote sessions via an ssh tunnel.
I don’t have much reason to do it nowadays because laptops are so much more powerful and storage is so cheap that the stuff I was doing can all be done locally.
It’s a shame he’s been accused of being a creep/rapist. Not for his sake, I hope justice is served, just so many misplaced “I told you so”s to go around because of it.

I was going to say I had the polar opposite experience until your last paragraph.
Lecturers were very rarely excited about the material they taught, left as soon as they could and were far more concerned with their research than helping students.
That was EE so probably a mix of weed-out and the fact that they were all socially awkward mega nerds.
