Are you complaining that they’re going open source?
No, not in the context of “you’re welcome”. Wilkommen is only used for saying e.g. “welcome home”
In German, “you’re welcome” means “gern geschehen” which can be translated back to “I did it gladly”. So yea, I also think YW is very positive
Unless you have an original implementation with big benefits it’s more efficient to improve existing ones instead.
So the question is where to find chaotic/ anarchist people like yourself who don’t follow the rulez. I’d like to know, too. The answer is probably to get to know A LOT more people so you higher your chances to find someone compatible.
Servers are fine, but your identity shouldn’t depend on a single one. On Nostr for example, servers are just there to relay the content to other peers. The servers are interchangeable and you don’t depend on any of them.
Sadly, Nostr doesn’t have good content and is kinda overrun by crypto bros.
The thing that I dislike about lemmy is that we all share a boat (instance) with a lot of other people. If the boat owners drill holes into the boat (defederate with instances) we all sink.
I’d like to settle on a platform that scales better and gives more reliability (no dependence on instance admins).
But lemmy is fine for now.
What do you mean by that
The term “open source” was confusing from the beginning. Insisting on “free software” has kind of an autistic vibe to it. “Libre” will probably not catch on. I like your idea of just calling it “GPL” or “MIT licenced” software etc
open source is only one point and can also apply to properity software
What makes you think that?
Or just use ubloco origin with firefox. Always worked for me
You can also download Droid-ify instead for a nicer interface (backend is still F-Droid)
Thanks for sharing your experiences
Can you tell me where you have to tinker in Mint? I want to know if I can still recommend it to noobs
Where do you have to tinker in Mint?
Check out InnerTune on F-Droid. No ads and you can additionally listen to all of Youtube Music
If you need the power, sure. But for me, the Steam Deck fulfills my gaming needs so my actual desktop pc is gaining dust
When I want a desktop, I plug my laptop into the docking station which is connected to the monitor setup
How do you get this black theme? I downloaded Gradient-Dark-GTK and set it for legacy applications in Tweaks but nothing changed
