Honestly, I think the mechanisms in NMS and Starfield are both serviceable but not perfect.
What’s funny is I was literally about to reinstall Starfield because I haven’t played the latest update and was in the mood to play around with the ship building again. Then this NMS update came out…
Now it sounds like the expedition may not start until Wednesday so they can tackle some bugs first. I’d say just keep an eye out for it.
The Corvette Expedition doesn’t start until Friday but you can build and hunt for Corvette parts now. The expedition just gets you some exclusive rewards and is going to center around the new building mechanic.
I think that’s a fair assessment. NMS’s gameplay is broad, not deep whereas something like Starfield is deep, not broad. If you don’t like the sandbox parts of the game, like base building, I can understand why it’s not your favorite. That being said, I think it’s worth revisiting from time to time to check out the new features and expeditions.
I’ve played every expedition and will usually play that save for a little bit after the expedition is over, building bases, maxing out my freighter, etc. Then I move on to another game until the next major update or expedition. Overall it’s a fairly chill game and the community is nice.
Only the new class of ships, Corvettes. There are some YouTubers streaming it. Corvette building looks like ship building in Starfield.
Yeah, I know people have asked for something like this for a while now. I never expected it to happen.
Yeah, that’s annoying.
Honestly, I’ve taken a break from ship building at the moment because I’ve run into a handful of bugs with the parts in my inventory, e.g. the same parts no longer stacking, parts not showing up in the builder, etc. Hopefully these will get resolved soon.
