I got it about a year ago and I’ve been playing it again recently. It’s okay.

I’m super frustrated that for some reason, Sid Meyer’s SimGolf doesn’t run on any emulation or modern hardware. It was just a friggin windows 95 game!! I have no idea what’s so special about it.

Space-click is such a nice feature. I stopped wishing I could edit queues once I found it.

I’m playing a skirmish at 0.1 resource production, pausing constantly, and it’s STILL pretty overwhemling. But fun and slick!

What’s the diff? I have a web site that functions like a traditional blog, offers RSS, but it’s an ActivityPub application that participates in the Fediverse. Doesn’t that describe every Mastodon-alike?

I have written a template that I can just add notes to in a very simple notation and I get three scores, one tabbed for chromatic, one tabbed for a diatonic, and one without tabs to practice sight reading. Now that I’ve done the work, it’s super easy to take notes (no pun intended, but not a bad one) and embed it in my org journal or whatever. It did take me three or four hours to get everything working just the way I wanted. The output is gorgeous!

There are at least three viable commercial microblogging sites right now. So you already have all these problems, without even considering the Fediverse. The Fediverse is the SOLUTION to these problems, not the cause.

You have to pick a microblogging service. What’s the difference? Truth Social is just a mastodon instance, but it’s commercial and it has marketing. That’s all that’s “missing” from any other fediverse instance, and thank fucking god.

It’s the raison d’etre. Saying “don’t federate” is like saying “don’t put images and rich hyperlinking on the WWW, just make it like Gopher.” If you don’t want to federate, don’t. But saying that it was a bad move for ActivityPub is just nonsensical.
