It was a problem with early WD green drives IIRC. The power management was exceptionally aggressive and caused massive issues when put in to any RAID-like set up. You could override it though generally.
I manage a web dev team. We try to optimise as much as possible but then there’s all sorts of tracking that gets tacked on by personalisation teams, opti teams, things like Tik Tok, Facebook, Twitter/X scripts inserted too… It’s pretty shit. And sometimes when things break it makes it super hard to debug too
First two (as others have mentioned) can be symptoms of Anhedonia

Great breakup song if you want to just let it out

This is a cover of the Beatles song. Very different vibe to the original
Realising now my music tastes are a bit weird…
I have a limited edition cell from the Justice League animated series signed by Bruce Timm. Got it about 15 years ago for about $900AUD, it’s worth about $2000AUD now.

Great, now I have to dig out all my Rifts sourcebooks since it’s been too long…
When I started diving in to philosophy I found The Cambridge Dictionary of Philosophy to have handy to go “What the fuck did I just read?!” too
I’ve had a similar experience with online dating - chatting with people, then went on multiple dates where it became obvious they didn’t actually want a relationship (although I was quite open about the fact that I did) or they were just not a good match for me. I agree with a comment higher as well about the ‘spark’ thing as I was realising I just wasn’t feeling that with any of them. I’ve had people say before that they were just on them for validation rather than having any intent on dating.
That said, I actually deleted Hinge about a month ago as I was just kinda sick of it and one of the people I’d been on a date with prior (who I actually did have a spark for but the date was just a bit odd as we hadn’t quite ‘clicked’ with our interaction styles yet and I suck at actually flirting) wanted to catch up again. We’ve been dating exclusively for over a month now.
I’ll agree with your comment about the disparity as we joked about our online dating experiences - she’d been on some 20-30 dates and in even more conversations with guys after being on it for 4 weeks. I had been on 5 dates and 12-odd chats in 6 months and a lot of those chats just ended up going nowhere when you ask engaging questions and get either absolutely nothing or single word replies.
Hercules returns is a hidden gem
“He looks like a condom full of walnuts!” "He wouldn’t notice if someone was up him with an arm full of deck chairs
“And we thought fuck that. Too hard.”
I occasionally do this too. For me it’s when my internal voice starts turning to the “dark side” and ruminating on stupid shit, I start feeling overwhelmed etc etc.
Ergh, I have been on seroquel. It did not work for me (and it didn’t help my arsehat psychiatrist just kept upping the dose when I said it wasn’t helping, then would up the antidepressants when I started feeling numb from the seroquel.)
Never again…
I’ve known quite a few people/groups that are poly and I dated someone who was poly for a while too. I did it because I didn’t feel like I had to deal with 100% of my partner because that would have crushed me.
My info is purely anecdotal but two super common threads that kept on appearing is there were people who were poly, but were never actually poly and just said it because their partner wanted to be so they said they were too and that the people who were super committed to poly all were trying to fill a gap in their lives and had a lot of insecurities in general.
Most hated the idea of ever being alone, not just in ‘a relationship’ but actually just being by themselves.
I once worked with a team who would have useful tests like (it’s been years since I used Jasmine so not going to try), but things like if true === true.
Yeah thanks dipshit.
As someone with a dual Opteron 6386SE sitting in a closet somewhere with 512GB of RAM… It was fun for a few weeks until I saw my energy bill. Was great in winter though as I didn’t need a heater on… Ever.
The pros of working in a tech company where they decommission shit and just ask who wants it
But Art3mis in the real world has a port-wine stain so she’s ugly! Can’t you see how disgusting she looks?!

I use lemmy obviously. But I’ve started reading books again rather than doomscrolling until I fall asleep at night, and also more gaming and socialising in general.
I think it was a crutch for my depression.
100% My job is to stop the team from feeling all the corporate BS as much as possible. I’m an ex-dev myself so my job is to make sure they’re OK and that thy’re not getting pressure from stakeholders/PMs/POs etc.
A massive amount of tech managers have zero empathy sadly. But I’m the complete opposite. If anyone in my team isn’t doing OK they just need to tell me, whether it’s financial, personal, work-related etc.
