That saying holds more truth if you’re using the “non-political” definitions of conservative – i.e. moderate, cautious, or resistant to change.
Moreso “set in your ways” as the world changes around you.
Lemmy has a fair number of loud, toxic instances, communities, and users. On the other hand, it’s easy to block all of them, and it’s practically a requirement to enjoy lemmy.
So block with zero hesitation – the only people that will give you crap about it are the people that are the problem in the first place.
old.reddit.com still works … for now. I deleted my account, but there’s still a few writers on reddit I follow.
I’m running a Venstar Colortouch thermostat. They’re not cheap, but they have a local API and there’s a Homeassistant integration.
I’m not saying this to encourage complacency – too much is at risk. Everyone needs to go out and vote.
But on the other hand: look at how those polls are conducted. The vast majority are cold calls, and what are the demographics of “people who answer calls from unknown numbers in an era of rampant phone scams” these days?
Ah, my mistake
Aren’t morse characters are 1 to 3 taps long?
It is a NSFW instance, so as long as it stays contained there I don’t see the problem.
Are you trying to make you home servers accessible to the wider public, or just accessible to yourself/family/friends?
If it’s the later, running a wireguard VPN server on a publically accessible, cheap VPS with your home servers and connecting devices as “clients” works well. I’m in a similar situation as you and did so to access my home automation and media servers from “the outside”.
I bake with and can a lot apples – an apple peeler is the fastest way to peel, core, and slice an apple.
It just comes down to having the space and “need” to justify buying one.
There’s actually quite a few at the federal level – not enough, but they exist. There’s a decent overview of the federal labor laws available here. Individual states also have additional laws, and shockingly “liberal” (in the American sense) states tend to have stronger worker protections than “conservative” ones.
Of course scumbag employers count on most people not knowing those laws or how to report violations and will actively push misinformation about them.
Edit:
As a bonus, have a Walmart anti-union propaganda training video, because Walmart cares about you..
Or you could file a complaint with the DOL and let them take care of it – they do not fuck around.
Yes, in other units that’s 203.6 "Hg, or 6.8 atm.
That’s whack, dawg.
¯\(ツ)/¯ they’re just better.
That’s a far worse hypothetical crime than you realize: it harms the profits of billionaires. Why don’t you think about all those poor oligarchs you’re hurting?
How will they be able to buy politicians and judges if people stopped giving them money?
I just want those large, deep pocketed, sue-happy corporation’s legal teams to know I’m a good consumer that never violates DMCA or other intellectual property laws: it’s wrong. I mean, that’s what they say and obviously we should trust them.
I can’t imagine much worse than violating the inalienable rights of amoral multi-billion dollar industries, except maybe bragging online about it afterwards.
I would never pirate anything since it’s illegal and immoral.
But I imagine the selfish criminals that do like the fact they can limit their media consumption to the occasional worthwhile thing. They might even assuage their guilt by paying for it when possible after they establish it isn’t garbage.
That’s what I’m running, though I had issues with it randomly requiring a reset. Installing OpenWrt fixed that problem.
