That’s what happens when we let soydevs name things.

Nope, the documentation suggests 3 ways for installation: from scratch, docker and ansible.
I tried both from scratch and docker and I’m stuck. Eventually I’ll try the ansible way, but first I have to learn ansible…
I’m far from not disappointed.
What’s on and around line 32 in the config?
{% if lemmy_env_vars is defined and lemmy_env_vars|length > 0 %}
I did the ansible install, other than mail setup, the instructions were easy to follow.
you’re not the first suggesting this. Some guides I’ve found online suggest to use the Ansible files “because they’re less broken”.
At this point I’m wondering if the documentation is bad “on purpose” to prevent too many script kiddies to install their own instance.
That’s very useful if you want to attach an old school printer or mouse to your penis.
Well, it’s a spectrum. I worked with a woman that was spending the whole time in our office laying on the floor during her period because how painful it was. But I’m also married with a woman that doesn’t have any symptoms at all and when asked about she said the only annoyance was having tampons ready.
Oh, you mean the phone! Sorry I was thinking about MacOS.
Yep, it’s even faster than Windows 10/11 explorer that sometimes hangs for no apparent reason.
Oh, that’s nice!
I just found out you can install KDE dolphin on windows!
I stopped using Reddit on my phone, which was most of my Reddit time, but I still use it on my PC.
On mobile I exclusively browse Lemmy.
I would totally migrate completely to Lemmy, but the general audience here is a bit too… radicalised for me. Sometimes I just want to relax, read some interesting link and interact in the comments.
Wait, no Ghostbusters!?
As I said, not a fan of Docker, but 8ks are really interesting and I want to learn more. I like especially the fact I can configure “pods” (is that the right term?) that multiply over different containers and hardware based on load and demand. The idea of a self-replicating swarm of threads is fascinating to me.
But using a docker to run mariadb and another docker to run a photo app and another docker to run a web server that connects over a docker network… and all this runs inside a VM, it’s wasted overhead to me. Especially today where everyone can run proxmox and vmware at home for free.
Frequent flyer for the last 20 years. It wasn’t normal at all until a few years ago. You just validated this whole thread.
If you’re flying as a family or with friends, some cheap airlines actually “randomly” puts your seats all across the airplane if you don’t buy the seats.
Well, luggage is weight, and weight means more fuel burned. That’s not the scam.
The scam is advertising your plane ticket as $20 cheaper than the competition with luggage included, and then make you pay $30 for the luggage at checkout.
Diamonds were fairly rare when we used to mine them in Asia and America. And it’s a nice shiny stone which is also very durable.
Then, we found out Africa is actually full of diamonds and DeBeers said “we can’t have that!” and started buying all the African diamonds to keep them away to artificially inflate the price and scarcity.
Then we found out we can make them in labs better than the mined ones and DeBeers sai “that’s not a natural diamond, you don’t want that!” and so on.
The whole marketing about “A diamond is forever!” is to make you think you’ll never want to sell your diamon ring, so you don’t find out your precious gift paid $2,000 is actually wortth $50.
An EA spokeperson would say “it’s all about the experience”.
God I hate Docker. It’s a great system for lazy devs to NOT learn how to deploy software.
(I love LXC containers and QEMU, tho)
I’m a windows and Linux user. I received for free an old 2015 MacBook air. I absolutely love it (after installing brew).
With how infuriating Windows 11 is, I’m slowly starting to understand why people prefer to pay more for a Mac.
