Have used it for some months and it’s great. I mostly use it for basic stuff like splitting / merging pdfs because im too lazy to look up the pdftk command.
But there are many more features like sanitizing (removing embedded JS code) or OCR (which works great).

I recently bought a second external drive to do a backup of the first one. In the process I’m going to switch to btrfs. It can do data scrubbing which allows for self repair of corrupted data, which can occur if you leave a drive unpowered in a closet for some years.
I second xournalpp. I used the older xournal to get through university.
Also, if you only have to add some text or images you can use firefox.
In my case it does.
What happens when the daemon is stopped depends on the implementation of your drivers. I have driver for my mainboard fans that is not in the mainline linux kernel but maintained by a single guy that just recently added the functionality to give back the control to the motherboard (bios settings).
Long story short: if you disable coolercontrol and notice that your fans don’t change their speed when the temperature rises / falls, or act like they did from the bios settings, reboot your system.

I also stumbled upon fancontrol-gui but it seemed a bit dated to me (last commit 2 years ago).
About nvidia: there is a section in the documentation. Coolercontrol relies on hwmon, which has a system wide scope.

I love those guys. Not that i’m playing these, just pure admiration for them pushing up the linux market share.
I have set the list of people following me and the ones i follow on private now. This seems to be the only useful thing they could scrape. Why would i care if they can see what music i listen to? It’s not like they can see my personal info and link that or is it?
This fucks me up to no end. I love this phone but that fucking search bar made me switch the launcher. I also love the Pixel launcher (if it wasn’t for that search bar), so I run the alpha release of Lawnchair. Problem is, there is no proper release bc there is not enough manpower to develop it.
As others have said, Librewolf and Waterfox are both forks of Firefox.
That said, i am using Firefox on Fedora from the repos with no issues. Do you use the snap version? Ubuntu ships it default and it is as trash as snaps are in general (it has exactly the problem you stated, taking too long to open). There are guides to install the .deb version (apt installs the snap version…) or you could use flatpak. Another thing to check is if you have a new addon / plugin running thats hogging resources.
She certainly can’t break anything by using it, you can spin up a docker container and see for yourself. It’s also localized in a lot of languages.
I don’t think my own mother would do well with this, mainly because I think she doesn’t know what the difference between a pdf and word or libre doc is. But apart from that, it is really simple.
